Project Due Date: TUESDAY, November 5, 2013 CHAPTER 4 – “Life in French Missouri” Chapter Project Project: Create a French-style house (some pictures are on the back of this page) Required elements: students must use the provided milk carton as the basic component of their house construction * Steep roof * Gallery surrounding house (porch) * Boards up and down (vertical) * Written explanation about each of the three building characteristics {this writing will be done in class} Materials: milk carton (provided) Use any of the following items necessary to construct the house: cardboard, posterboard, craft sticks, glue, paint, tape, markers, etc. (students may ask to use construction paper from school) Assessment: total of 25 points – 2 points each for the sloped roof, gallery, and vertical boards – 6 points 12 points for the written explanation (must be done in class) 5 points for neatness and following class directions (must follow size requirement) 2 points for completing and turning in on time (2 points will be deducted for each school day the project is late) This is a student-created project. Parents are welcome to assist with providing supplies (things from around the house are expected, nothing should need to be purchased).
