Call for Papers, Posters, Panels and Workshops
We invite you to attend the 2015 CITRENZ conference in Queenstown on October
7-9, 2015 and submit papers, posters, panels and workshops for presentation and
publication. The theme for the conference is “Inspired Computing Education”.
CITRENZ 2015 is the premiere computing education conference in New Zealand and
spans all disciplines of computing and information technology education. While
focusing on tertiary education, it also provides links from secondary education and
also into the computing industry. The conference regularly attracts more than 100
attendees from over New Zealand as well as international delegates.
This conference is open to all educators and researchers in the computing and
information technology and computing and information science communities..
This international conference is broad in scope and we now invite submissions in
several categories:
Editorially (non-peer) reviewed:



Poster presentations
Workshop proposals
Panel Proposals
Peer-reviewed papers:



Computing and IT Education
Computing and IT Applied Research and Practice
Education Technology
Papers in all the sub disciplines of the computing field, (Information Systems,
Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science and Computer
Engineering) are encouraged. We also welcome papers in the areas of educational
technology, e-learning, e-Commerce, cloud, data and mobile computing.
Process
Editorially reviewed items
Proposals for workshops and panels will be considered by the editorial board in
consultation with conference chairs. Criteria for acceptance will be the judged level of
interest from, and relevance to, conference attendees.
Posters should be a concise summary of scholarly work. At least one author should
attend the conference and be prepared to discuss the work at scheduled poster
sessions. An extended abstract of the work is included in the proceedings as a
record of the poster presentation. This is in the form of a two page short paper and is
editorially reviewed. Acceptance criteria for posters are scholarship and relevance to
conference attendees.
Peer reviewed papers
There are two options:
1. Submitting a proposal by May 25. Your proposal will be considered and, if
successful, a sub-editor will be appointed to help you develop your paper.
Your completed paper will be submitted by August 3.
2. Submitting a completed paper by August 3.
Papers will then be double-blind refereed by at least two reviewers on the review
panel. They will be selected for presentation at the conference and inclusion in the
refereed conference proceedings by a respected editorial board, based on the
reviewers’ recommendations.
Completed papers or proposals must be submitted to the 2015 CITRENZ conference
submission management system:
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=citrenz2015
Authors of successful proposals will be notified by August 17, 2015, in order to then
submit a complete quality-assured paper. Final, camera-ready papers must be
submitted by September 21, 2015. At least one of the paper’s authors must attend
the conference and present the paper.
Paper Template
Complete papers should be formatted between six and eight pages. Papers less than
four full pages or greater than ten pages will be rejected.
A paper template, incorporating style and content guidelines, is available on the
CITRENZ conference web site (http://conference.citrenz.ac.nz).

1. Title: Descriptive title (max ten words)
2. Authors and institutions: (will be removed for blind refereeing)
3. Email: for corresponding author
4. Purpose: What does this paper seek to achieve?
e.g. The purpose of this paper is to explore the understandings of third normal
form of computing students, and the effect of a series of experiential
workshops on that. It seeks to…
5. Design/methodology/approach: A brief overview of the approach
described in the paper.
e.g.: Understandings of computing students are explored with a cognitive
mapping exercise. A total of 62 students undertook a test before and after a
series of experiential workshops. The cognitive maps were analysed to reveal
commonalities and differences.
6. Findings: Briefly outline the findings of the paper. Please put actual key
findings rather than ‘the paper will show cool important results’. If analysis is
not completed, indicate here and in “Current state” below.
e.g. This study identified the range of understandings of normal form
expressed by computing students. The students demonstrated understanding
in three main domains: precursor, representation and modelling. Within each
of these ….
7. Originality/value: What body of knowledge does this add to? What are the
research practical and/or theoretical implications?
E.g. This paper contributes to the field of database representation. It builds on
the work of Smith and Jones (2015), applying their model to a larger class. It
shows that…
