Planning Workshop on nutrients and algal pigments, Oostende, 4-6 of
February 2014
Date and venue of the workshop: Eguermin (a military base), where MARCHEM has its
facilities, address: 3de & 23ste Linieregimentsplein, B-8400 Oostende. The Workshop starts
on 4/2/2014 at 9.30h, ends at 6/2/2014 at 16.30h, and is split in a first part on algal
pigments and a second on nutrients.
For algal pigments, the main topics are:
-
QA/QC (Reference Material, Standards, Calculation method, Method validation)
Extraction
Filtration & Storage
HPLC (Detector, column, gradient) versus Photometric (Calculation Method, UVFluorescence versus Absorbance)
For nutrients, the main topics are:
-
Latest developments in methods
In situ measurements: Calibration and Drift
Organic nutrients
Reference materials
Sampling storage: Filtration, frozen or not (use of solvents)
Calibration of the sensor
An extra presentation for TA and DIC analysis is added
A poster exposition room is foreseen, there will be time to discuss poster content during the
different breaks.
