School Achievement Services Science Coach (Grades 6-12) Contract Specifications/Requirements The Science Coach will work with the Wayne RESA School Achievement Services team to develop educational practices, provide technical assistance and offer training and coaching to staff aimed at raising student achievement in identified schools. Science Coach Qualifications A minimum of a Master's Degree with certification in Science at the elementary/middle school or high school levels A minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience in science A proven track record of raising student achievement as a Science teacher A working knowledge of the Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCE), High School Content Expectations (HSCE), the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) - including high school graduation requirements, the Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), the tenants of Education Yes! and the requirements of No Child Left Behind The Science Coach should: Possess the ability to support the work of collaborative school-based teams Possess a knowledge base of current issues in educational reform, a proven track record of making effective presentations to adults; computer literacy; and a willingness to travel within Wayne County Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Be proficient with standards-based curricula and modeling appropriate lessons, strategies and best practices Be proficient modeling effective classroom management strategies Be able to use a variety of data to make appropriate instructional decisions Be able to align curriculum BE able to use assessment to improve student achievement Be able to manage timelines, reports and schedules; facilitate school coordination; attend school and project meetings, orientations and professional development Possess a knowledge of email, Microsoft word and power point (Note: Candidate must successfully complete MSU Coaching 101 and Content Modules as a required condition of contract and will be recommended for enrollment subsequent to interview.) The Science Coach will not be considered an employee of Wayne RESA. The Science Coach is a contracted services position payable at the rate of $67.00 per hour (Direct Service) / $33.50 per hour (for attending meetings or Professional Development).
