MANITOWOC PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT MUSIC PARENTS ASSOCIATION
The Music Parents Association (MPA) is an organization that allows parents of music students (band, chorus, and orchestra) the opportunity
to become more involved in their child’s music program in the Manitowoc Public School District. We are an organization that is Parent
directed with the intent to support the teaching staff and students. Our monetary support helps offer opportunities and experiences above
and beyond the Music department’s limited budget.
The MPA has given money toward the items in the list below and most recently a $1000.00 donation to the Orchestra so that they are able
to meet a matching Grant to help them to replace much worn string instruments that had been provided for student use.
Scholarships- 3750.00
Met Opera Project- 800.00
Concert Attire (Tuxes/Dresses/Polos)- 1850.00
Food for Events- 377.00
Busing to different events (Kalahari/performances)- 6000.00+
Concert opportunities (visiting artists)- 1500.00
Music Equipment (risers/recording devices/string project etc.) 3750.00
Trip payments- 6000.00+
Only through the support of the MPA would these items be possible.
MPA also recognizes that families need opportunities to fundraise for individual students music needs such as the personal cost of field
trips, purchase of musical instruments and music camps. The Annual Fruit Sale allows students to earn a percentage of the funds. Those
funds are kept in individual student accounts for their use while in the District. The Music Department’s budget would be greatly benefited
If at least one box of fruit were purchased by every student’s family.
MPA also strives to create events which promote music. Our 2015 “Tunes and Tators” program showcased our student’s musical talents in
a family fun atmosphere while raising funds for MPA. Last year the funds raised were put towards the riser purchase.
This year and in several past years we have also teamed up with Culver’s for “MPA Night” at their restaurant. Our date this fall is Tuesday,
October 13th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. And new this winter we are hoping to team with Applebee’s for a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser.
Please become a member of this outstanding organization and support our music programs. It is only $5/family to join and only by joining
does it allow your student able to benefit from the Individual accounts and Music camp scholarships. If every family also make it a goal to
attempt to raise $100 imagine the impact we could have on our Music Department. *
To accomplish our goals, MPA needs your support through attendance at meetings, assistance with events, and of course, your monetary
support. Our meeting dates and times for the 2015 – 2016 school year are all on Mondays, Oct. 12th, Jan.11th, Feb. 8th and May 9th. We
meet for an hour in the Lincoln High School Choir Room at 6:30 p.m.
Please contact a music teacher and they will direct you to the right person to speak to.
*If you would prefer to make this donation for your family rather than fundraise the funds would be placed in the general MPA fund and
not eligible for individual student accts.

Annual Dues: $5.00 per family. Dues must be paid in order to participate in the Fruit Sale
fundraiser.
Parent participation is vital to our organization. Please help us support our music students by
attending a meeting or volunteering to help with our events.
