Afiatin (2003) in her dissertation research has been using outbound training for countering illicit drug users. In her research, Afiatin found that the use of outbound is able to increase the resistance of the temptation to use drugs. In addition, it was reported also by Afiatin, the research which is conducted by Johnson and Johnson that the activity in the outbound training can increase the feelings of social life (sense of community) among the participants. The aim of outbound according to Adrian and Yufiarti, in the journal Cultivating Character Students through Outbound Activity (2006: 42) is : a. identify students' strengths and weaknesses; b. in accordance with its own way of expression that is environmentally acceptable; c. know and understand the feelings, opinions of others and respect for diversity; d. generate enthusiasm and motivation to continue to engage in those activities; e. more independent and act in accordance with the will; f. more empathetic and sensitive to the feelings of others; g. able to communicate well; h. know how to learn effectively and creatively; i. provide an understanding of something about the importance of good character; j. instill positive values that formed the character of elementary school students through a variety of real-life examples in the experience of life; k. develop the quality of student life character; l. implementing, and provide examples of good character to the environment. From the statements above, it is clear that the aim of outbound itself is as a process of individual therapy and family therapy or group who experienced gaps. Meanwhile, family therapy or group who experienced social inequalities that need to be refresh. Neither conducting recreation and/or outbound activities.
