Updated Carcass EPDs In recent years, we have had several individuals inquire about ultrasound carcass data on our sale bulls. In the past, we have not scanned the bulls prior to our sale. In an effort to accommodate these individuals requesting carcass data, we have tested a selection of bulls across most of the sire groups for their individual carcass traits using Pfizer HD50K DNA Testing. This provides additional information to our customers, as well as allowing us to utilize this data within our herd. After researching all the available options to test for carcass traits, we chose to go with the HD50K DNA test. We feel that through DNA testing you can more accurately determine the carcass quality of the animal. Every mature working female in our herd, as well as every sire that we use in our breeding program, has been evaluated for carcass quality, by either ultrasound or DNA testing. Even though not every bull in this sale offering was individually DNA tested for carcass quality, their interim EPDs shown in the catalog are still a sound guide to use, as these EPDs were calculated from the data provided by both their sire and dam. Shown below is the updated carcass EPDs for the bulls that were HD50K tested.
