The Orthotic Centre (NZ) Ltd is pleased to invite you to our 3rd annual clinical conference.
Our focus this year is: Reflections on the past; Designing the future.
On 8th March 2014 the Orthotic Centre (NZ) Ltd will be holding its third national Orthotics conference in the beautiful
city of Auckland. The aim of the conference is to bring Orthotist’s and other interested health professionals and
practitioners together again, to share clinical experiences and review relevant literature and research that will guide
clinical prescription and orthotic treatments. This on going opportunity to learn, network and share knowledge and
ideas with colleagues is CME accredited by NZOPA.
SPEAKERS
DR SURESH SUBRANAMIAN: MS (Ortho), FAFRM (RACP), Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine
Suresh joined the Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation unit after completing his
Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship. He graduated from medical school in India
and following completion of orthopaedic residency, worked in India and Kuwait
before moving to New Zealand in 2006.
Suresh started his career in New Zealand as an orthopaedic registrar before
embracing Rehabilitation Medicine. He successfully completed his training
through the Auckland based Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine
(AFRM) training program and was awarded fellowship in 2011. During his
training he developed a special interest in spinal cord medicine, spasticity and
neurogenic bladder management.

JONATHAN KWAN:
PG Cert Heal Sci (Clin Rehab), BPhty, University of Otago, New Zealand
Member of PNZ, Member of ISCOS / Physiotherapist and Section Head,
Auckland Spinal Unit
Jonathan Kwan is the Section Head Physiotherapist at Auckland Spinal
Rehabilitation Unit, New Zealand.
He has been working in Spinal
Rehabilitation for the past 11 years; currently manages the Spinal
Physiotherapy Department.
His clinical interests include spasticity
management and gait retraining after spinal cord injury, technology and
rehabilitation, and exercise options for wheelchair users. In recent years, he
conducted a pilot study on “Evaluation of a weight management and well
being programme for people with SCI”. He is delighted to have the
opportunity to share his humble experience.

Allan Hosking spent 4 years working as a site engineer in the UK and this
article published in the Survey Quarterly overviews the role and projects.
