Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club
Alto, New Mexico
General Manager
Incorporated in 1967, Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club is a full-service, private, memberowned residential community and country club. Located in Alto, New Mexico on a mesa in
the foothills of the Sacramento Mountains in the shadow of Sierra Blanca Peak (11,973
ft.), the club boasts spectacular views, a wonderful climate, and an abundance of natural
beauty and wildlife in the surrounding Lincoln National Forest.
The Club's facilities include a challenging and meticulously maintained golf course, two
hard tennis courts, a swimming pool, fitness facilities, and variety of athletic and social
events in an inviting clubhouse - including seasonal functions, annual parties and
traditional member events. The clubhouse boasts a large and attractive banquet room that
is often used for a variety of member-sponsored events. Club members also have access
to an additional 18 holes of high quality golf at the Outlaw Club at Lincoln Hill, an adjacent
facility that is also managed by the Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club professional staff.
The Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club membership is a "second home" for a good number
of the members - wonderful, friendly people who hail from all parts of the country. As such,
the members are knowledgeable and expectant of personal and attentive service in a
traditional private club setting stressing warmth and comfort. The club is open all year,
with the most members in residence and active during the busy summer months.
The Club's annual gross revenues are in excess of $5.7 million, of which approximately
$3.3 million is in dues and $1.6 million in food and beverage sales. Overall, the Club is in
a solid financial position.
The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for proper
interpretation and fulfillment of Club policies, procedures, facilities and services. The Club
Commissions (i.e., Committees), with whom the General Manager regularly interacts in a
participatory and contributory manner, are active, knowledgeable and productive and, as
such, their suggestions are valued and appreciated by the Board of Directors as well as
the entire membership.
The Club currently has a number of excellent, long-tenured management employees in
place who will welcome the leadership, organizational, and team-building skills of the new
General Manager. The ideal candidate will possess the desire and ability to appropriately
interact with poise, friendliness and class with the members of the Club. The chosen
candidate will have outstanding food and beverage, financial/cost control, staff
mentoring/training, and human resource skills. The ability to successfully handle multiple
responsibilities with attention to detail and demonstrated "follow through" is also essential.
Salary and benefits are commensurate with the position, as well as the selected
candidate's demonstrated professional abilities and experience. Please contact Norm
Spitzig, MCM in full confidence if there is a personal interest on your part - or if you wish to
recommend a suitably qualified candidate. Norm may be reached at
