Department nomination required. ____SBS Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award—This award recognizes a graduating senior in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences who has demonstrated academic achievement, originality, and creativity in an independent, undergraduate research project. Faculty nomination required. ____SBS Excellence in Leadership and Community Engagement Award—This award recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated exemplary leadership skills through their involvement on and off campus and their impact on the lives of others. Faculty, staff, and students may nominate candidates for this award. Faculty, staff or students may nominate candidates for this award. ____SBS Perseverance Award—This award recognizes a graduating senior in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences who has persevered in the face of significant adversity to earn his or her university degree. Faculty, staff or students may nominate candidates for this award. ____SBS Student Success Award—This award is given to a graduating senior who is a first-generation college student. Faculty, staff or students may nominate candidates for this award. One letter of nomination: Letters of nomination should provide detailed information of why the nominee should be considered for the specific award for which she/he is being nominated. Please see the award description for details regarding letter of nomination. If letter writers are nominating a particular student for more than one award, please ensure the letter addresses the information pertinent to all of the awards for which the student is being nominated. Additional nomination materials required of all nominee: Student’s Curriculum Vitae—descriptive of the nominee’s qualities, achievements, and contributions. The CV must contain the student’s current address and hometown. Current Academic Advisement Report—Student may obtain their report from UAccess Student and should provide a pdf. copy of the report with their nomination materials. Additional nomination materials required of students nominated for the SBS Excellence in Leadership and Community Engagement Award: 1) A 500-word written statement generated by the candidate that 1) outlines what it means to be a leader and 2) provides concrete examples of how their commitment to service and community have influenced others. Additional nomination materials required of students nominated for the Research Award: 1) A 500-word summary of research findings or output (including title of the project). Additional nomination materials required of students nominated for the SBS Outstanding Senior Award: 1) One letter of nomination discussing the nominee’s qualities and achievements in scholarship, citizenship, and leadership. 2) Curriculum Vitae descriptive of the candidate’s scholarship, citizenship, and leadership. 3) A short biographical sketch suitable for reading at the ceremony (should the student be selected). Each department may nominate one student per award. Nomination packets for all SBS undergraduate awards should be received in the SBS Dean’s Office no later than Monday, November 9, 2015. Student Awardees will be recognized at the SBS Convocation Recognition Ceremony at the Centennial Hall on Saturday, December 19, 2015 and his/her name will appear in the Convocation program.
