In order to progress to the third year of the course, a student must normally have accumulated at least 220 credits from the course 15.22.39 15.22.40 15.22.41 15.22.42 15.22.43 15.22.44 curriculum including those for all the first and second year compulsory classes. These must include (i) for students wishing to proceed with Biochemistry, either the class BM 202 Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism or BM 203 Cell and Molecular Biology; (ii) for students wishing to proceed with Immunology, the class BM 201 Introduction to Infection and Immunity; (iii) for students wishing to proceed with Pharmacology, the class BM 205 Human Physiology In order to progress to the fourth year of the course, a student must normally have accumulated at least 360 credits from the course curriculum including at least 120 from those listed in 15.22.35 and the credits for the classes (i) for students wishing to proceed with Biochemistry, the classes BM 306 Proteins and Enzymes and BM 305 Clinical Biochemistry and Medical Genetics. (ii) for students wishing to proceed with Immunology, the classes BM 301 Fundamental Immunology and BM 302 Intermediate Immunology. (iii) for students wishing to proceed with Pharmacology, the classes BM 307 Fundamentals of Pharmacology and BM 308 Drugs and Disease 1 (iv) for students wishing to take PY 401 Dissertation in Psychology, the classes 36 314 Research Methods in Psychology and 36 317 Individual Differences. In addition, a student must have achieved an approved standard of performance with regard to level of study and academic attainment. Final Honours Classification On successful completion of the fourth year, a candidate will be awarded 125 Level 4 credits under the class code BB 498. The final Honours classification will normally be based on: (i) the first assessed attempt at compulsory and approved optional classes in the third and fourth years; (ii) if appropriate, an oral examination. Award BSc with Honours: In order to qualify for the award of the degree of BSc with Honours in Biomedical Sciences and Psychology, a candidate must have accumulated no fewer than 480 credits from the course curriculum. These must include no fewer than 180 credits at Levels 3 and 4 or above of which a minimum of 120 must be at Level 4. Transfer A candidate who fails to meet the requirements for the award of the BSc with Honours in Biomedical Sciences and Psychology may be transferred to the BSc in Biological Sciences subject to satisfying the appropriate progress regulations.
