is called an imperative sentence

boundaries to courage, hard work and faith.

The Daffodils
Unit 14
Paraphrase
Stanza 1;
Once while standing alone I saw at once a collection of golden daffodils. They were
grown near a lake and beneath the trees dancing and moving their heads in the breeze.
Stanza 2:
Like the shining stars of the milky way, they were standing in ceaseless lines. They were
widespread lines along the bay. Then I saw ten thousands at glance, moving their head
happily.
Stanza 3:
The daffodils were dancing more attractive than the waves dance. It was very delightful
scene in which a poet just can feel pleasure in such company and can do nothing more. I
constantly looked at the flowers and thought a little about the pleasure.
Stanza 4:
In deep or in vacant thoughts, whenever I lie on my sofa, the scene of daffodils flash
upon my inward eyes. I indeed feel it a blessing for myself in solitude. My hearts fills with
pleasure and starts dancing with daffodils.

Summary: To the poet, William Wordsworth , nature is a source of happiness and pleasure. Like
clouds he was alone wandering here and there and suddenly saw a large number of golden
daffodils which were beside the lake and under the trees. They were moving and dancing in the
breeze and were shining like the stars. They were in long lines about 10 thousand at one place.
The waves beside the flowers were also dancing. He considers it a happy company. At that time
he could not get the pleasure but when, in solitude he is sitting on his sofa and the memories of
that beauty of daffodils flashes to his mind, it is the bliss of that solitude to him. He is so
delighted that his hearts also starts dancing with the dancing daffodils.

Paraphrase:
I tried to get close to God. There for I climbed the topmost of a religious building. There I
received a message from Allah. He told me to go down again and find Him among the people.

Important Short Stories
STORY (1)
THE CAMEL AND JACKAL
Once there was friendship between a camel and a jackal. One day they
decided to go a garden to eat melons. They crossed the river and went to melon
field. They ate the melons. The jackal started howling. The camel requested not
to howl but the jackal said that it was his habit “I howl after eating” The farmer
came the jackal run away and the farmer beat the camel. When the camel
returned. When camel crossed the river the jackal jumped over the camel back.
When camel reached the middle of river the camel sat down the jackal requested
not to sit but the camel said“ it is my habit that I bath after eating too much”.
Thus the jackal was drowned.
Moral:-
As you sow , so shall you reap
STORY (2)
“ A FOOLISH STAG”
Once there was a pool of water in which a stag was drinking water. By
chance it saw his own reflection. He saw his own horns. He started admiring his
horns but as he saw his thin legs he became disappointed. At the same time he
saw hounds which were coming towards him. The stag ran very fast and it was
impossible for the bounds to catch him. Suddenly his horns were caught in
bushes. He thought to himself that his ugly thing legs saved him from the hounds
but his beautiful horns got him to death. The hounds approached him and ate
him .
Moral :-
All that glitters is not the gold
STORY (3)
THE FARMER AND THE SNAKE
Once there was a farmer. One day he was coming to home from his field
in a winter season. By chance he saw a frozen snake which was frozen due to the
cold . He took pity on it. He carried it home and placed it near the fire. When it
became hot it started moving and tried to bite his child but the farmer killed it
through a stick.
Moral :-
Nature cannot be changed.

STORY (4)
A FISHER MAN
Once there was a fisherman who lived near a sea. He used to go to the
sea to catch fish. Once he caught a small fish. The small fish requested him to
make it free for some days and after getting beg he would catch it again but the
fisherman thought to himself for a while and replied in negative. He brought it
to his home. His wife cooked the small fish and they ate it very happily.
Moral :A bird in the hand is worth two in the bushes
STORY (5)
THIRSTY CROW
Once there was a crow. He is very thirsty. He flew here and there in
search of water. He went to a garden. There he saw a pot of water but the water
level was very low and his beak could not reach to the water. By chance he saw
some pebbles near the pot. He dropped those pebbles into water one by one. The
water level rose up. He drank it and flew away happily.
Moral :
Nessicity is the mother of invention
