The project : For several years, the Compagnons Batisseurs France has been involved in the Village of
Youth of Mettray and has always received a very warm welcome. The Village of Youth of Mettray used to
be a penal colony for youth, La Paternelle, created in the 19th century. Today, it has found a new
meaning. Several decades ago, it was opened again and turned into an educative center for professional
inclusion and medical support for youth. It hosts around a hundred young people all year long, facing
many sorts of difficulties. This beautiful place is classified as Historical Monument. The idea is to mix the
international volunteers group with the Insitute of young people at some moments of the day in order to
reduce their marginalization, to ecourage them to meet people from abroad and develop exchanges with
people from different backgrounds, and to integrate them in a collective project of tolerance and
citizenship! This summer, you will restore walls in stones around the place, and maybe build some fences
in wood. Some of the work may be done on scaffolds.

Location : The small town of Mettray (about 2140 inhabitants) is located arond 10km north west from
Tours (Centre region), in the departement of Indre et Loire. It is not far from several Loire castles. For

Accommodation : You will be accommodated in one of the buildings, with a kitchen, the bathrooms and
rooms for sleeping.
Special Requirements : This project is for open minded volunteers, mature and ready to work and share
with all kinds of public! This year, this project is run under the OFAJ, and is open to Italian, German
(Lander : Saxe-Anhalt) and French volunteers only.

The project : The township of Laillé and the local Youth department are ready to host a workcamp in
order to construct a bandstand inside the public garden. Before it begins the young people from the
village will work togther with the local authorities and the architect in order to set up the plans of the
bandshell and organise the project.
Works : Construction of a bandstand inside the public garden of Laillé.
Location : Laillé is a small town situated at around 30 km south from Rennes.

CBF03 Montautour 06/07/2015 - 26/07/2015 reno +18
The project : The town of Montautour has a very rich and remarkable built heritage in it city center. It is
protected as Historical Monument. Restoration works started a few years ago. Today, there is still one
major part of this heritage which needs to be renovated to finalise the global project. In order to help the
town in fulfilling this project, the community of communes Vitré Communauté decided to support it by
organising an international workcamp. The amount of work to be done is huge. One team have been
started the restauration of the wall last year and this year you will continue, and maybe next year also
we’ll organise one more workcamp! The local partners want to use the workcamp to encourage local
youth to move and commit themselves on the project. It will be the opportunity for you to meet the young
people of Montautour : they will happily show you their region and their culture.
Works : You will work on traditional masonry. 'Parish close' is a translation of the French term 'enclos
paroissial'. It refers to a wall that was build all around a parish church that we found especially in Brittany
and date from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Location : Montautour is a lovely town located at around 60km of Rennes, in a green landscape. It is in
the depatement of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany.
Accommodation : You will be accommodated in a non-furnished building. You need to bring an air
mattress and a sleeping bag.

CBF04 Comptoir des Savoirs 06/07/2015 - 26/07/2015 reno 18 - 30
The project : The idea "Comptoir des Savoirs" is what we call a "social incubator" that gives the
opportunity to the inhabitants and young people of the suburbs to share their knowledge and ideas to
create together projects for themselves for their suburbs. The aim of this workcamp is to construct a
building together with young architects using wooden construction methods. The this building will be used
by the inhabitants to meet and run projects trought out the year.

The project : For several years now, international workcamps have taken place on this territory in the
center of Brittany to restore its built heritage. The volunteers participated to the workcamps but also to the
summer life of the town, with animations, visits, meals together with the young and less young inhabitants
of the territory. Being happy with this experience, the Ciderale (group of several municipalities) wishes to
go on with this adventure this year again... After La Motte, Le Quillo, Plouguenast, St Thélo, Plémet,
Gaussont, Grace Uzel, Saint Barnabé and Uzel, now it’s the turn of a new town: Langast! You, volunteers
ager to discover the local population and share frindly moments: you found the perfect workcamp!
Works : Renovation of a stone wall in the village.
Activities : A team of leaders will be with you along the workcamp to invite you to discover the region
and its inhabitants.
Location : Langast is a small rural town, located in the center of Brittany, in a very green landscape. It is
part of the districto of Cotes d'Armor, at 15km from Loudéac and 30km for the Saint Brieuc bay.

The project : Together with the association Live the Street and the team of Specialised Prevention, this
international workcamp aims at continuing the renovation of Saint Malo street (the last historical street of
Brest) which started a few years ago with a Quebeco-French team, and then international workcamps.
You will continue cleaning the small streets, removing gravel and starting a few masonry work, and create
intercultural meetings to allow the young people of Brest, sometimes in difficult personal situation, to meet
people from different countries and backgrounds!

The project : One of the bigger indoor skatepark in the region is in Plougastel. In 2010 a first
international workcamp was organised to create new modules made of wood in order to bring new
technical possibilities and more security for the skateboarders using roof structure technique. After
several years of great utilisation, now the stakepark needs some little renovation works and new dynamic,
so you will renovate old modules and creates new ones.
Works : Renovation and construction of wooden modules for the skatepark.
Activities : discovering the local region.
Location : Plougastel-Daoulas is a small town located on a peninsula in front of Brest.
