Minnesota Emergency Nurses Association
The 2013 National ENA Conference is over for this
year. It was a meeting filled with the pleasures of
seeing old friends, meeting new people, learning
new and innovative education and seeing new
equipment and technology that can make our work
easier and more meaningful for all of us. If you
were unable to attend this year, please think about
attending a National conference in the future. It
refreshes your Nursing Spirit.
There is a lot of great information in the STAT but
we are always looking for important information
and ideas to share with others. Please consider
writing an article or an update of what is going on
in your ER. This is our newsletter and can be used
to share great ideas that can help our nursing
practice.
Happy Emergency Nurses Week
Please share with us what your ER did to
help you celebrate.

Greater Twin Cities is helping in the AED registration process with the MN Resuscitation Consortium. Placing
"Get registered" sticky notes on AED's in public areas we come about in our travels at schools, shopping malls,
public buildings, will help encourage them get registered and be part of the registry. Several counties are now
purchasing software to track where the nearest AED is to a 911 call to help guide callers to get to these AED's
more quickly to the unresponsive victims.

News From The ENPC Committee
The ENPC committee has been busy this year. We started with all of the instructors re-verifying with the
new 4th Ed. ENPC course. All but a few of the previous instructors chose to re-verify and successfully
completed the online course work. I want to thank all of you who did the course and continue to teach
ENPC.
In June, Karie Pearce went way out of her way to course direct a state sponsored ENPC course in
Roseau. She had good company as Sue Blake and Kayla Swanson took time off from their busy
schedules and went with to teach. They had a full class and did a great job.
In August, we held a state sponsored course in Wadena with 24 participants. Karie and Sue made that
trip with me to teach. We were joined by Brenda Liestman, Debina Gibb Potts and Randy Heinbaugh. It
was a lot of fun and the class went well. Thanks to all of you for helping with the state sponsored
courses.
Karen Manor will be the course director for an ENPC Instructor course in October. There has been a lot
of interest, so I think it will be a full class. If you are interested contact Karen at Regions EMS in
Oakdale.
It has been a great year for ENPC in Minnesota. Thanks to all of the instructors who take the time and
make the effort to keep the MN emergency nurses up to date and competent in the care of the pediatric
patient.
