MS & HS Structural Specifications
Middle School Structure:
Total finished Beam length = 14" (+ or - .250")
Minimum internal Beam width = 2" ( + or - .125")
Minimum internal Beam height = 3" ( + or - .125")
Test Block is: 3/4" thick X 2" wide x 8” long with a 1/2" hole drilled at center. Placed inside the structure.
Bottom of Test Block must rest 3/8” above the plane of abutment.
- Structure will be rated on greatest efficiency.
- Come with your structure in hand and COMPLETED!!! ** No time is given to construct at the regional site.**
- Drawing & Parts Schedule on 11” x 17” paper of only the 14” truss is required. A 20% rules violation if missing.
- Be sure to have proper clearance for 1/2" rod through the center of your structure.
- Use no more than 12 ft of 1/8" X 1/8" and 8 ft of 1/8” x 1/4” BALSA WOOD! 1/8”x1/4" pieces for horizontals only!
- Do not use excessive amounts of glue. Use CA glue ONLY!

High School Structure:

Total finished Beam height = maximum of 2.5" ( + .125")
Total finished Railway length = 16" (+ or - .125")
Total finished Railway width = 4.75" ( + or - .125")
Total finished Railway height = .25" ( + or - .0625")
Total finished Railway Gauge Spacing = 3.5" ( + or - .0625")
Test Block is: 3/4" thick X 3 3/4" wide x 12” long with a 1/8” thick x 3 7/16” wide x 12” long secondary test block
attached to the bottom. Both will have a 1/2" hole drilled at center. Both placed on top of structure. The
secondary test block must fit between the rails so that direct pressure can be placed on the support
beam structure.

one (1) sheet of 8.5” x 11” standard card stock.
- Do not use excessive amounts of glue. Use any glue of your choosing!
