BELLRINGER:
* What first aid do you give a person who is unresponsive, but is still breathing?
* What first aid do you give a person who is agonally breathing?
OBJECTIVES:
* Students will determine what first aid to render if a person is unresponsive and
not breathing
and describe the techniques to a partner.
* Students will describe which situations warrant not continuing CPR.
* Students will describe why no one should be touching a person who is receiving
a shock from an AED.
* Students will demonstrate the Heimlich Maneuver.
ACTIVITIES:
* Complete bellringer and discuss topics with a partner.
* Watch the MEDIC first aid, CPR, AED video.
* Complete portions of the first aid information worksheet.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2012
BELLRINGER:
*In complete sentences, write down three instances in which
you would stop performing CPR.
1. Someone relieves you. 2. The person becomes responsive.
3. You are too exhausted (tired) to continue.
OBJECTIVES:
* Students will demonstrate and explain the Heimlich Maneuver.
* Students will described bymptoms to look for while performing
a primary assessment of a responsive person.
* Students will write down the acronyms DOTS and SAMPLE as a
means to look for blues to a person's well-being in a secondary
assessment.
* Students will describe first aid for bleeding and shock.
ACTIVITIES:
* Complete the bellringer and discuss it.
* Watch the MEDIC first aid video
* Write down answers on first aid info worksheet on topics covered.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2012
BELLRINGER:
*Describe what specific first aid you would provide for a person who is bleeding
heavily.
OBJECTIVES:
*Students will describe first aid for heavy bleeding.
*Students will describe first aid for head/neck/back injuries;
swollen/painful/deformed
limbs; and burns.
ACTIVITIES:
*Complete bellringer and discuss.
*Watch the MEDIC first aid video.
*Write answers on first aid info sheet.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2012
BELLRINGER: FREE – turn last week’s bellringer in.
Get out your first aid info sheet.
OBJECTIVES:
 Students will describe first aid for head/neck/back
injuries; swollen/painful/deformed limbs; burns;
diabetes; diabetic emergencies; and seizures
ACTIVITIES:
 Watch the MEDIC first aid video.
 Write answers on first aid info sheet.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2012
BELLRINGER: Tell your partner how you would perform first aid
for a person who is choking (Heimlich Maneuver).
OBJECTIVES:
 Students will describe first aid for breathing
difficultuies; pain or severe pressure or discomfort in the
chest; seere abdominal pain; poisoning, heat and cold
related injuries; and methods for movement of victims;
and what help first aid providers should get after an
event where they help someone.
ACTIVITIES:
 Watch the MEDIC first aid video.
 Write answers on first aid info sheet.
