Student overview of this term’s events
Using the Employability Tutorial (ET)
The ET is the University's award winning online resource, designed to make planning the future much easier.
For more information about how you can help students to use the Employability Tutorial please visit
www.york.ac.uk/services/careers/vle/departments. Key messages for each year group are as follows:
First year students - use the
tutorial to generate ideas, consider
skills and find out about
internships.
Second year students - explore
options and choose what to do
next, apply for and record your
work experience
Final year students - it’s not too
late, use the tutorial to find out
what you can do now to secure
work or further study
Students need work experience! Over 50% of Times Top 100 recruiters say that candidates without any
previous work experience have “little to no chance of receiving a job offer” with their organisation’s graduate
scheme. Students can watch out for our ‘Work Experience Wednesdays’ campaign on social media this term –
