“Cool Fire“! The ambience of an open fire but without the risks, work and mess –
using fascinating intelligent ewt technology.

Kulmbach, January 2015. Many people dream of experiencing that unique ambience of an open fire
but not everyone can fulfil the dream. Hotels, pubs and public buildings are subject to stringent safety
regulations, making it often impossible to have an open fire. Open fires are not planned for many
rental properties and can only be retro-fitted at considerable cost and subject to safety regulations.
And, one thing hasn’t changed even millions of years after man tamed the flames: making a fire is
tedious – and is associated with mess, soot, fine dust and other emissions that are harmful to health.
Not everybody wants to buy, store and haul logs around... For those who though want to bring the
magic of an open fire into their home, we have a fascinating solution that is practical, convenient,
simple and efficient. Electric fires by ewt - patented and unique. “Cool Fire”: ewt will be presenting its
product range with all innovations at the imm in Cologne, one of the most prestigious interiors shows
in the world.
The three innovative ewt fire technologies Opti-myst, Optiflame and Opti-V are ideal not only for use in hotel
lobbies, pubs, restaurants, luxury mobile homes and boats. They can basically be used anywhere that wood,
coal, gas or bio-ethanol fires are too dangerous, too tedious or harmful to health: simply plug in, switch on and
relax! ewt electric fires are just as atmospheric as an open fire that is heated using fossil fuels. But, they are
easier to operate, safer, mobile and cosy and warm if required – and, because they are green-power driven
they are fully CO2-free! The numerous different installation, material, size and design variations are ideal for
any environment and for all personal preferences.

Opti-myst®. Water becomes fire – for a realistic 3D flame effect.
Light meets mist. And, suddenly flames appear. It sounds impossible, but works. And how? Beneath the
firebed with the log or coal backdrop there is a water tank in which the water is atomized by ultrasound to
create a fine, dense mist. Halogen lamps behind the water tank heat the air which then carries the mist
upwards. The rising mist is distributed across the firebed, reflecting the halogen light. This creates real
flickering, just like dancing flames. Water becomes fire – the reflecting mist itself creates the fire effect. A dark
fireplace backdrop is no longer required. The 3D Opti-myst fire can be seen from all sides. The mist-flames
react totally naturally, for example, they even flicker if there’s a draught. Unlike log fires, this technology is
totally safe and protects children’s hands: If you put your hand in the fire, it will be surrounded by the rising
flames. It is possible even to regulate the thickness of the flames. However, you won’t get burned! But, it can
still be warm in front of the fireplace, if you so wish: there is a two-step heating option. Opti-myst is available
as an “open” fire, a fireplace inset, as a full fireplace and as a wall-installation option. Using the new OMC-Fire
installation, a fireline of any length can be created, without interrupting the flames – something that is
particularly impressive for example as a room divider in pubs, hotels and wellness spas.
Optiflame®. Reflection becomes fire: gesture-controlled with a choice of flame colour.
The secret here is a rotating mirror shaft with a number of curved and twisted mirror elements attached to it.
This allows for the greatest possible irregular mirror surface to be created that refracts the light multiple times.
This is exactly what enhances the fire effect: the more individual elements that are rotating, the livelier is the
reflection, therefore creating a more realistic flickering – as is the case with real flames. The fire is alive! In
order for the logs or coal in the firebed to glimmer as realistically as possible they are also illuminated from
below. Highly efficient and sustainable RGB-LED lamps that offer all colours are used for the most recent
models. Therefore, it’s already possible to create a green or blue fire; the fire intensity of the glimmer and
flames can be regulated too. Magic! All the more so with the contactless gesture control used to switch the
fireplace on and off – by magic! If you have chosen the heating option, it is available in two steps. As regards
installation, Optiflame is extremely versatile as it is available for wall-mounting or as a free-standing stove that
can be moved somewhere else at any time.
Opti-V®. Video becomes fire – fully maintenance-free, realistic appearance and sound.
The Opti-V model uses an illusionist technique from the 19th Century, the so-called Pepper’s Ghost effect that
was originally used mainly in the theatre. ewt has revisited this technique, further developed it, and perfected
it through meticulous engineering work, thereby creating a three-dimensional flame effect with realistic spatial
depth: Via a monitor on the top of the fire, a HD fireplace video – with flying sparks and smoke – is projected
onto a transparent, reflective surface that is installed at an angle above the firebed. If you look into the fire,
you see this reflected projection of the fire video above the firebed. In addition, energy-saving LCD lamps
illuminate the firebed from below, so that it looks even more realistic. The sound of logs crackling is included
as an option. Opti-V models do not have a heat option, are fully maintenance-free – and as a result are
suitable for public areas such as pubs or restaurants. The fire inserts can be incorporated into wall units, TV
cupboards or directly into the wall itself.
