Dynamic workplace – Evolution in the IT communication field
Many organisations are experiencing dynamic shifts and generational differences in the
communications and working preferences of staff. Combining radically different working
styles, with the constant and rapid change in technology is enough to give any enterprise
‘a headache’, especially when the IT infrastructure of most enterprises is unable to meet
these shifting demands.
Val Tuckett will discuss how work styles have substantially impacted the IT Communications
field, from traditional telephony through to the modern day unified communication
requirements. Finally Val will elaborate on how using Lync Server 2010 enables workers to
communicate and collaborate from work, home, or anywhere with Internet access to help
solve one piece of the dynamic workplace puzzle.
Guest speaker: Valentine Tuckett, Microsoft Services
Val Tuckett is employed as a Premier Field Engineer with Microsoft
Services. In Val’s current role as a Lync SME for Asia specialising in Lync
Server 2010, he works daily with Microsoft partners and customers
throughout the region to review designs, remove blocks and ensure a
smooth transition to their new unified communications platform. He is also
a Master Trainer for messaging/unified communications.
Prior to Microsoft, Val was a lead support engineer for Australia's largest organisation and
had the enjoyment of dealing with 40,000 mailboxes on NT4.0 Wolfpack Exchange 5.5
clusters. On the personal side, he lives in Melbourne and spends his downtime reading,
socialising, gaming and photography along with generally trying to keep his 14 month old
son from destroying too much of the house.
