If you have a question, at least one other person will also have that very same question – help them out and ask it! 1 Student Workbook, Level 3 Sport 2014 If you are having any problems with the course work, the following checklist might be helpful: Am I attending all classes on time and prepared for work? Have I researched the material? Do I know how to use the library and Moodle? Have I read my notes at home or with other students? Have I looked on the UNITEC Moodle site for links to websites that may help? Have I spent 5 hours a week on self-directed study for sport performance? Have I asked Beth, Vinesh or Cheryl for help? Have I been to Te Puna Ako or Maia for learning support and extra tuition? Am I being a “professional” student? Am I working in a tutorial group with my peers, do I have a study group? Am I utilising my free time well and balancing social networking arenas? It is essential that you attend all your classes. Many of the ideas covered in class are not found in text books or on Moodle and it may be difficult to catch up if you miss a class. Investigations and laboratory work are a vital part of your class work. These tasks are designed to extend your thinking. Laboratory investigations will be carried out in small groups and the grades from these investigations will be included in your final grade for this course. USE MOODLE regularly, and attend to clearing your emails. Each week you need to schedule in at least 5 hours of self-directed study time. Practice work will be given frequently to re-enforce your class work and completion of this is essential to your success. Most of this ‘homework’ will be assessed and will count towards your overall grade. This is a FULL TIME UNITEC course you and it is understood that 40 hours per week is spent on learning for your four classes. 2 Student Workbook, Level 3 Sport 2014 Week Sport Performance 1 Orientation activities 2 ATHLETE MAKEUP 3 ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY- Sport Leadership ACD - HEROES report 5% 4 DISSECTION Unit 1 test 24 March 15% 5 COF BEGINS Dissection report due – 5% 6 COF 7 COF 8 COF - Unit 2 test 21 April 15% 2 week vacation 9 COF p/f due 10% NUTRITION 10 NUTRITION 11 NUTRITION – online test 5% 12 NUTRITION Unit 3 test 2nd June 15% 13 MOTOR/PSYCH SKILLS Nutrition p/f due 10% 14 MOTOR/PSYCH SKILLS 15 MOTOR/PSYCH SKILLS Unit 4 test 25 June 15% Prac 5% 3 Student Workbook, Level 3 Sport 2014 16 WORKSHOP - Monday/Tuesday Anchoring new learning by practice and revision is extremely important in any subject.
