After you have been placed into groups of four, read about your assigned section of lessons 1 and
3: 1) Rainfall is Life, 2) Great Draught of the Sahel, 3) Population Growth, and 4) Addressing
the Issues. Use your textbook to answer the provided questions. Keep the problem of
desertification on your mind as you read. As you read and answer the questions, have either Mr.
Hess or Mr. Venarchik check your answers to be sure you are on the right track. When everyone
