Welcome to Academic Solutions Ltd!
We are here to close the gap between teaching and learning!
Academic Solutions Ltd was founded in 2013 to meet the growing need for quality tutoring in
St. Albert. As a teacher, I know first-hand the difficulty that students face both in and out of
the classroom.
The Teaching Philosophy at Academic Solutions Ltd:
 Students are placed on individualized plans that enable us to go back and teach
students missing concepts and work to support them in learning new concepts.
 We work to catch mistakes. Often students are not able to pinpoint the areas that they
need help with. Completing practice questions in front of a teacher, allows the teacher
to catch the mistakes right away. This helps students focus their attention on the areas
that they need to work on.
 We will work together to take away homework stress. Homework practice is absolutely
necessary to master the concepts in math. If homework completion is a problem for
your child, it is likely that they do not understand it and the frustration and stress is the
reason they avoid it.
 Built in test preparation, test anxiety solutions in every session.
 A huge part of success in math, is having confidence in yourself and in your abilities!
We work with students to help them gain confidence in themselves and change their
attitudes about learning!
 I truly believe that every child can succeed in math! Whether your child is an honors
student who wants some extra support to maintain a high average, or a struggling
student who needs help passing, we can design a program to help!

Achievement Workshops:
Achievement workshops are another way to help your child succeed in the classroom. They
can be used in addition to weekly tutoring, or as a stand-alone resource.
Year round Review Workshops (Commencing Fall 2013):
These can be used in two ways:
1. For students who do not feel they need weekly tutoring sessions but would like help
reviewing concepts and preparing for unit tests. Students can choose to come before
every test or pick and choose which sessions they need.
2. For students who are coming to weekly tutoring sessions and could benefit from
additional review and test preparation.
These are 3 hour workshops that include:
 A thorough review of all concepts covered in the unit
 Supervised extra practice where I am on hand to work with individual students and help
with concepts
 Tips on studying, making study sheets, strategies for writing multiple choice tests
 A practice unit exam
 Workshops are limited to a maximum of 5 students. This allows students to still receive
much needed individualized attention
Workshops are currently being offered for:
Math 10C
Math 20-1

Courses are dependent on enrollment. If there is interest in other courses running review
workshops, I will add additional workshops to accommodate. Ask for more info!

A note for the students:

You must bring the following materials to each session: Textbook, pencil, eraser,
calculator, extra paper.

It is also helpful if you bring classroom notes, current and past assignments, study
guides, past tests, etc.

Start your homework before coming to a tutoring session. This will give you a better
understanding of what you want to focus on in your session and maximize the time you
have with the tutor.

Come with Questions: Record specific questions that you do not understand as the
week goes on and bring that list to your tutoring session.

Be an active learner. Do not sit passively during your session while your tutor does all
the talking – ask questions and be honest about your understanding of course
concepts.

Set realistic goals for yourself.

Let your teacher know that you have a tutor. He or she may have extra assignments or
review assignments that could be helpful to bring to your tutoring session.
