Institute mid semester progress check in with professors

Use your internal standards board to hold people accountable for falling below your academic standards
Have an advisor who works specifically with the Academic Chairperson/Committee to place scholastic achievement at the core of the organization
Make sure academic success is discussed at each chapter meeting
Have each member make SMART goals, have an incentive program in place to reward those members who reached their goals.

5) A percentage of the chapter's budget is dedicated to academic programming
Create a values-based budget, with money being allocated based on your organization’s values (note: this should mean a sizeable chunk of your money and energy would go toward supporting academic success)
Create academic scholarship packages for current and new members of your organization
Create an academic awards structure to provide positive reward for those doing well academically and provide an incentive for those who are struggling. Some ideas include: o Highest GPA o Most Improved GPA o Academic Support Scholarships (for Aristotle and fee-based programs at the Think Tank) o Many national organizations have items that denote having high GPAs, reward members with organization items (dangles that can be attached to badges)
Review your Chapter budget, if none allotted move to commit funds

Academic Resource Guide o Funds can be used to support presentations on academic success and educational planning, rewards for academic improvement and tutorial support o There is no minimum amount of money that must be used
6) A Chapter has a minimum GPA to hold office
Review Chapter Constitution and bylaws for specific information
Chapter officers should abide by the same academic expectations of general membership
Sample Statement: In order to hold office, a member have a minimum cumulative gpa of 2.75.
7) Chapter has a minimum GPA for members to attend social events

Sample Statement: In order to attend social events, a member must be considered to be good standing have a minimum
cumulative gpa of 2.75 and a previous semester GPA of a 2.75.
BONUS: Chapter has a Faculty Advisor of Faculty Fellow: This individual should be a current University faculty member that is able to provide academic guidance to the chapter or is a faculty fellow.

Ask members if they have a good relationship with any faculty that they can reach out to for your chapter.
BONUS: Chapter has over a 3.0 cumulative GPA

Academic/Scholarship Description ( can be a part of a larger officer position) o Job description should include:
Plan or promote academic workshops to chapter members
Review all chapter members’ CUM and semester GPA each semester
Oversee a portion of the budget to be used to promote academic success
Recognize those members who have succeeded academically
Hold members accountable who have fallen below the academic standards of the organization
Programming for the whole chapter o Goal Planning for the Chapter
Create a chapter goal GPA
Two academic workshops for the chapter during the year
Do a needs assessment to determine what the chapter can benefit from
What will help students who are freshmen or sophomores?

Each member should create a short term and long term career goals plan. They should review this plan with the academic chair or advisor each semester.
Each member should complete a profile for scholarships through scholarshipuniverse.arizona.edu each semester
Programming for academically successful members o 3.0 or higher
Achieve 10 points per semester
Programming for individuals who need assistance
2.75 less than 3.0 = 3 points per week
2.5 less than 2.75 = 5 points per week
2.0 less than 2.5 = 7 points per week
< 2.0 = 10 points per week o Points System
