COMMENTS/CONDITIONS
Proposal to delete an undergraduate course
Recruitment numbers have been low and the degree is considered to be
too generic, lacking a real focus which may account for low numbers
Current students will be supported to the end of their studies
No transitional arrangements required
With effect from September 2015
Proposal to delete a postgraduate research course
Recruitment has not been satisfactory, and retention and progression
has been poor
Recent market research has found that there is not a viable market for
this course
The existing 3 students will be supported to continue the DProf to
completion; some students who registered for the DProf have
subsequently transferred to PhD
With effect from September 2015

COMMENTS/CONDITIONS
Proposal to change an undergraduate course title for a top up degree
Delivered solely as a franchise to St Helena Hospice
o Current title: BSc (Hons) Palliative Care
o New title: BSc (Hons) Palliative and End of Life Care
The proposed title change was supported by the validation panel at the reapproval event that took place on 16 April 2015
The change is to reflect developments within the field of palliative care
and end of life care research, national policy and wider literature; the
approved changes to the curriculum are in line with this proposed title
The change in title will also appeal to a broader range of health care
professionals as this traditionally niche area becomes more mainstream
The change will impact new students starting from September 2015
With effect from September 2015

COMMENTS/CONDITIONS
Proposal to offer a one off May 2014/15 intake at SAM Trinidad only
Due to low numbers SAM did not have a January 2015 intake on either
of these courses, the aim is to attract additional numbers for May 2015
Due to elections taking place in Trinidad in June, there is some
concern regarding the continuation of GATE funding, a May 2015
intake will ensure registered students will be funded
No transitional arrangements required, will fit in with our DAP calendar
With effect from May 2015
