Panther Pathway Catalog
1. ACT/SAT Test Prep
Did you know that people with a bachelor’s degree make $1.3 million more over their lifetime
than people with just a high school diploma? Take charge of your future by exploring the
exciting world of college with the Northern Arizona College Resource Center (NACRC). Learn to
navigate the SAT and ACT with test preparation, narrow down college options by finding best
fit schools and find exciting summer programs to participate in.
2. Entrepreneurial
Each week, a business/entrepreneurial topic will be discussed and demonstrated with
examples. The program is intended to provide basic knowledge of the business world
and entrepreneurship for the participants.
The module can serve as a basis for participation in the YES Week summer program that
provides students access to advanced business topics, community business leaders, local
entrepreneurs, business incubator mentoring, and group oriented business start-up
competition.(30 students each rotation).
Healthy Choices
3. Would you like to learn more about the basic principles of diet and nutrition as
well as making some fun and healthy snacks? If so, this Pathway activity is for
you. We will learn about the basic elements of healthy eating. Fun and tasty
snacks will be prepared and eaten...yum! (25 students each rotation). Room-227
Automotive Projects
4. On Thursdays we will be using the Pathway time for automotive projects that require
greater skill or are more difficult to complete during a normal class period because of time
restraints. Automotive students that take the enrichment class will be able to expand on the
curriculum and their skills while students who have no automotive experience will learn
basic automotive skills. This enrichment time will allow us to do Skills USA activities that will
develop technical skills as well as work place skills. (30 students each rotation). Room-219
Health/ Fitness
5. Students who choose Fitness/Health for their Pathway time will have a variety of
activities to choose from during their 9 weeks. On some weeks students will have an
opportunity to visit Fitness/Health related facilities that are available to them as
residents of Flagstaff. The students will be provided a list of places that we can go
visit and then the students will get to vote on which places we will visit. Other weeks
the students and I will participate in a challenging yet rewarding Health or Fitness
activity on the CHS campus. My goal is to provide students with the knowledge they
need to continue a lifetime of physical fitness and to make healthy lifestyle choices!

Computer Technology
6. The Computer Technology Pathway is going to center on Business
Documents/Word & Information Processing/ and Web Site Development since we
do not offer any of these electives. The students will be able to improve
keyboarding touch skill, process three types of business letters, learn correct use of
email and attachments, online resumes, reports in APA and MLA style and develop
personal website. (30 students each nine weeks). Room-339
Creative Writing Pathway
7. Do you like to write poetry and/or stories? Then you'll love Creative Writing Workshop! In
this Pathway, we will explore strategies and techniques that will help you become a better
writer. It is a workshop, which means you will be expected to produce rough drafts of works
(poems or stories) and come to class prepared to read the work of your peers and provide
CONSTRUCTIVE feedback to help each and every one of you become the best writer you can
be.
If you prefer one type of writing over another, that is okay, you will have plenty of
opportunities to write the way you want. But, you will be expected to immerse yourself in
all genres of writing throughout the workshop. Stepping outside of our comfort zones is one
of the best ways to gain new perspective and improve. Come and express your creative side
with us! (20 students each nine weeks). Room-318
8. The Modern Language Pathway
This will allow students to explore and use the popular language program “Rosetta Stone”.
This is a high interest and self-directed program in which students are able to work at their
own pace and learn a variety of languages. This takes place in the computer lab in the library
and will serve up to 30 students. Students should be self -motivated and have a serious

9. Music- Instrumental Performance
This class is open to students currently enrolled in band or orchestra. In Instrumental
Performance, students will prepare and perform classical repertoire with other students in
small ensembles. Ms. Hamilton will select music and prepare students, and the class will
conclude with a recital. Students will also learn about the performance, study and
interpretation of music from the 17th to the 21st century. (25 students each nine weeks)

10. Intramural Sports
This offers students of Coconino High School the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, on
either a competitive or recreational level. Leagues and tournaments will occur throughout the school
year in numerous indoor and outdoor sports including flag football, ultimate frisbee, dodge ball,
volleyball, basketball, team handball, floor hockey, soccer, softball, wiffleball, kickball, etc . Intramurals
are a great way to meet new people and build relationships. (75 students each nine weeks) Gym
11. Photo Exploration
Just can’t get enough photography? This Panther Pathway enrichment group will explore
the many areas of Photography that our photo classes don’t cover, both film and digital. The
group will resemble Photo Clubs that exist around the country. Students will have weekly
assignments to choose from. They will take photos on their own and the group will critique
them each week. Other activities could also include Black and White darkroom techniques,
B&W film development, and how to create multi-media presentations with your photos. (30
students each nine weeks) Room 341
12. Community Service Project
Interested in helping our community through volunteer work? Would you like to have formal
documentation of yours? If so, then join the Community Service Project. Students enrolled in this
Pathway will decide where they would like to volunteer. In school, we will log the hours and verify them
with the group. Learn how to enrich your school day by enriching our community. (20 students each
nine weeks) Room-209
13. Exploring the Culinary World
Students who choose the "Exploring the Culinary World" Pathway will be in culinary activities that require
extended time to complete. We will be looking at the many different culinary delights from around the
world and sampling those different tastes. In addition we will be working with a guest Chef, a graduate
of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, who has agreed to come and work with
student in pastry and dessert area of culinary. Finally, students will have the opportunity to help in the
creation of our own Panther Cafe herb garden. Our goal will be to prepare an area for spring planting so
that we will be able to produce our own fresh herbs to be used in our culinary creations. Come join in the
fun every Thursday afternoon in room 229. (25 students each nine weeks)
14. Women’s Chamber Ensemble
Women's Chamber Ensemble is open to any female student at CHS. The pathway will last all year and
will be limited to 21 students. The group will perform with the other choirs at CHS at regularly scheduled
performances and will participate in the annual "Madrigal Dinner" with Chamber Singers as servers and
performers. The group will also join with the women in Chamber Singers to compete at Music in the
Parks in April. Auditions will be held before the first Panther Pathway day. See Mr. Riddle in the choir

15. Panther Pathway “Scholarship” Rm 313
 Students will learn how to search for scholarships that have the highest possibility of student
award based on each student’s personal profile.
 Students will identify unique personal characteristics and create his/her scholarship profile.
 Students will be expected to create a scholarship portfolio during this pathway.
 Students will be given the opportunity to search for scholarships and apply for scholarships.
In addition to scholarship searches, students will be expected to utilize this time to apply for colleges
and to discover what college will best suit his/her educational needs. (25 students each nine weeks)
16. Art Exploration
In this pathway students will have the opportunity to explore pencil drawing, acrylic
painting, or clay. During the first course students will pick their medium, and begin working
on a project of their choice for the full duration for the Pathway. Students will have the
guidance of the teacher to complete their project and instruction on how to improve on
their artistic skills. (30 students each nine weeks)
17. CHSchool of Rock
Coconino High School students will be exposed to the industry of pop music.
Students will learn basic management of finances for an entity (the band). Marking
and self promoting threw digital and physical media will be covered, students will
be able to I.D. the differences of cables, audio formats, analog and digital interfaces
and FX processors. Students will be exposed to what goes on behind the scenes of a
live performance. Students will be exposed to contract law by having to write their
own terms and conditions for copyrighted material. (30 students each nine weeks)
18. Odyssey
of the Mind
Do you like to spend time thinking about how to solve complex problems? Do you like to work within
a group to tackle new challenges? Do you like to conceive, design, construct, and
build your team’s inventions?
If you answered yes to the above questions, then Odyssey of the Mind may be right for you!
Odyssey of the Mind is an International Creative Problem-Solving Program. It is based upon the idea
that creativity is a skill that can be taught and further developed with practice. Its focus is to develop
divergent, independent-thinking abilities (thinking outside the box, taking the path less traveled)
through a challenging, but FUN, learning process. It requires a team-effort, based loosely upon a sports
model. Teams usually demonstrate their solutions in a tournament setting. Odyssey of the Mind
develops real-life communication and brainstorming skills, and rewards creativity and “calculated” risktaking in the solution of complex problems.(30 students each nine weeks) room-719
