This tour will take participants to tour a food service production facility to see how Oakes Farms provides value added products to its customers nation-wide. Make sure to wear closed-toed shoes and a jacket as participants will visit warehousing facilities and see processing machinery used to slice and dice products. Transportation will be provided. 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Collier County School District Farm to School Spotlight Session** Dawn Houser, Director of Nutrition Services Collier County Public Schools Take a look into a successful Florida Farm to School program with Dawn Houser and the Collier County Public Schools. Enjoy this session as participants will look at other ways to get students involved in using their senses around food and exploring how food looks, tastes, smells and feels. This hands-on session will develop a template for participants to use when writing their own produce contracts and go over contract examples and best practices.
