A. Common Nouns—a nonspecific noun.

pronouns.

G. Possessive Nouns--Nouns that show possession or ownership
1. If a singular or collective noun is showing possession, use an apostrophe
and an s ('s) even if the singular noun ends in s

2. If a plural noun is showing possession, use an apostrophe after the s

**Review--Write a sentence using a singular possessive noun and one sentence using a
plural possessive noun. Use proper punctuation based on the apostrophe rules above.

H. Concrete Nouns--A noun that can be experienced through your 5 senses
of sound, sight, touch, hearing, or smell. If you cannot truly touch it or use
the other senses, it is NOT concrete. Touch is the main sense for this noun type

possessive and/or collective nouns.

I. Abstract Nouns--Your five senses cannot detect this group of nouns. You
cannot see them, hear them, smell them, taste them, or feel them. You may
think fear is concrete, but it is actually an idea; therefore, it is abstract.
1. Abstract Nouns can be common, proper, compound, possessive, singular,
plural, and/or collective nouns.
2. Abstract Nouns are usually ideas.
