POLICY FOR SUPPORT OF ARC FUTURE FELLOWSHIP ESTABLISHMENT GRANTS 2015 The University of Melbourne is a research-led University and the Faculty values highly its academic staff awarded Research Fellowships. The ARC Future Fellowship Establishment Grant endeavours to support eligible ARC Future Fellows employed in the Faculty. Please note that for fellowships nominally commencing in 2015 (ARC FT15 round) the Future Fellowships scheme does not support Medical and Dental Research, as per section A4.2.4 of the Funding Rules. Medical and Dental Research means research defined in the ARC Medical Research Policy available on the ARC website at http://arc.gov.au/applicants/md_research.htm ESTABLISHMENT GRANTS Eligible recipients may receive a one-off establishment grant up to a maximum of $150,000. There are no restrictions on how the University funding can be used, as long as it directly supports the ARC Future Fellow and their project. It is a condition of award that the Fellow is employed and will hold the grant at the University of Melbourne for its entire duration. Through Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC), Chancellery will offer grants of up to $100,000 per project. To be eligible for central support, matching funding must be provided by the host faculty/school/department on a 2:1 basis. (eg: $50K faculty/school/department support would be matched by $100K central support). FMDHS is pleased to advise that we can support successful ARC Future Fellows with a grant of up to $35,000 which would be matched by $70,000 from the DVC(R). In addition to this, Schools/ Departments may wish to provide up to $15,000 in funding. Eligibility for the Establishment Grant Prospective 2015 Future Fellowship applicants are eligible to apply for Establishment support. This funding is contingent on the Fellow holding a salaried appointment in a budget Department of the 1 http://research.mdhs.unimelb.edu.au Faculty.
