Established in 2010, William Amos Hough High School is located in the steadily growing area of
Davidson/Lake Norman, in the northernmost part of Mecklenburg County. Our school is a comprehensive high school in
the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by
the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. In August 2010, our school opened its doors for over 1400 students
in grades 9-11. In June 2015, William Amos Hough High School held its fourth commencement exercises for the Class of
2015.
William Amos Hough High School fosters high student achievement through a strong collaborative school culture that
maintains high expectations for all members of the school community. This mission is achieved through comprehensive
academic and extracurricular offerings which encourage each student toward reaching his or her full potential.

Quality points are assigned per
semester of course work on the basis
of A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. One
additional quality point is added for
honors courses. Two extra quality
points are added for Advanced
Placement courses. GPA is calculated
by dividing the total number of quality
points by the number of courses taken.
Credit and quality points are assigned
at the successful conclusion of each
course.
Class rank is determined according to
descending order of the weighted
GPA.

Graduation Requirements - To receive a high school diploma, students must meet requirements as prescribed by the
NC Department of Public Instruction and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Specific requirements may be accessed
through the CMS website at www.cms.k12.nc.us.
Grading Policy – Beginning the 2015-2016 school year, students will receive numeric grades on their transcripts which
will be based upon the newly adopted 10 point grading scale. Grades from prior years will not be altered retroactively.
