Old Mill High School Officer Grant Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund Nomination Guidelines Purpose: This scholarship is to acknowledge and reward one student -athlete who selflessly gives their time, energy and support to ensure the success of his/her team. This scholarship is not about being the star player rather it is intended for the player with the most heart who tried as hard as he/she could to improve himself/herself and the team. It is about perseverance and tenacity. A $1,000.00 scholarship will be given to a team player of any varsity or junior varsity sport at Old Mill High School for the 2013 season. The qualifications for this scholarship are as follows: Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 Must be a graduating senior at Old Mill High School and meet the Anne Arundel County criteria for school residency. Must be a member in good standing of the either a boys or girls varsity or junior varsity team at Old Mill High School. In addition to players, team participants such as team managers and team statisticians are also eligible. Nominee must have demonstrated a strong work ethic and personal character and proven himself/herself a committed, supportive and selfless teammate. A completed written nomination form of his/her particular qualifications for this award, including financial need. Nomination must be made by a member of faculty or an academic source such as a coach, or guidance counselor, teacher etc. (cannot be related to the applicant). The scholarship funds may only be used for tuition, fees and books at institutions of higher education (accredited two or four year public or private colleges, universities, or professional/technical schools). A One-time dispersal of $1000 per student will be paid directly to the institution. In the event the recipient does not use the funds at the selected college or university, the funds are to be returned to the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. Note: An individual may nominate more than one student to be considered for the scholarship. If no nominations are received by Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County by the nomination deadline – no scholarship will be awarded for that academic year.
