Any student attending post-secondary education and/or technical/trade school will need to fill
out the 2016-2017 FAFSA.
FAFSA UPDATE: The Federal Student Aid PIN was replaced with the FSA ID on May 10, 2015. The new FSA
ID consists of a user-created username and password to electronically access personal information on Federal
Student Aid Web sites, including FAFSA on the Web. You can use your FSA ID immediately to sign your
FAFSA, but must wait for the Social Security Administration (SSA) to verify your information before you can use
the FSA ID to create a renewal FAFSA, make corrections to your FAFSA, or view your SAR.
Scholarship/Grant/Loan Information/Opportunities
Submit your FAFSA as soon as possible after your parents have completed their 2015 income taxes calculated.
Avoiding Scholarship SCAMS! Financial Aid should never cost you!!!! Don’t be fooled by an “official
sounding” name. Just because a company uses words like “National,” Federal,” “Foundation,” or
“Administration” in its title doesn’t mean it is a legitimate operation.
If a website asks for money to make application for the FAFSA (FREE Financial Aid application), it is the
WRONG website. Check with your counselor BEFORE you send check, credit card number, or money
order.
Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Policy: Beginning November 1, 2011, students may ONLY
take the ACT Residual test ONCE during the year in which the respective ACT Residual examination is valid
(November 1 through October 31) and test date shall NOT coincide with a national ACT test date. Scores will
be cancelled and NO refunds will be provided for violations of this policy.

Ron Brown Scholar Program
Deadlines: November 1, 2015 & January 9, 2016
The Ron Brown Scholar Program (RBSP) honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective
scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African
Americans. RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each
year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in
public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship - the four pillars of the
late Ronald H. Brown's mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities - especially our
disadvantaged youth. Recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college
or university of their choice within the United States. Ron Brown scholarships are not limited to any specific field
or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline. Since the Program's inception in 1996,
more than 300 students have been designated as Ron Brown Scholars. The Ron Brown Scholar Program
currently has two deadlines for applications (students must be current high school seniors at the time of their
application):November 1st - application will be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program AND forwarded
to a select and limited number of additional scholarship providers. January 9th - final postmarked deadline in
order to be considered for only the Ron Brown Scholar Program ONLY. Since the postmark is what matters,
there is no advantage in sending your application by overnight delivery service. If January 9th falls on a
Saturday or Sunday, your application should be postmarked by the following Monday.

The Ventures Scholars Program is a

resources, and opportunities that will
help them successfully pursue their
career goals.
The Program collaborates with colleges,
universities, professional associations,
and organizations nationwide (VSP
Partners) and offers a variety of tools to
link students to the partners'
information, resources, and
opportunities. The Program also invites
parents/guardians and guidance
counselors to receive these resources,

MY NOTES:
ATHLETES
Any athlete who wishes to make an official visit to a
Division I or II college/university should register with
NCAA Clearinghouse. It evaluates student courses,
grades, and test scores to determine whether students
meet NCAA minimum academic requirements. Keep in
mind that if a student-athlete meets NCAA initial
eligibility standards that student still may NOT be
admitted to the institution because each institution
decides which students to admit based on its admission
criteria. Likewise, a student-athlete who gains admission
to a college/university may NOT meet NCAA initial
eligibility standards.

To find NCAA approved Core Courses, visit the website, select
High School Administration, click on List of Approved Core
Courses, and follow prompts.
