Dianne belongs to the pantheon of great jazz singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. She engages audiences with her strong, multi-octave voice, rhythmic virtuosity and powerful storytelling style to create a jazz-world-pop-bop synthesis that the Boston Globe calls “breathtaking.” Her virtuosity, improvisational prowess and unique jazz and R&B stylings have earned her the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance for three consecutive recordings—a Grammy first in any vocal category. Ms. Reeves has recorded and performed extensively with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, recorded with Chicago Symphony Orchestra and has been a featured soloist with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic. She was the first Creative Chair for Jazz for the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the first singer to ever perform at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Ms. Reeves also appeared in the Academy Award-nominated film and soundtrack for Good Night, and Good Luck. The soundtrack recording provided her fourth Best Jazz Vocal Grammy in 2006. Jazz Times has praised her multi-faceted career by saying, “most female vocalists find one musical bag and hang on to it. We’re fortunate that Dianne Reeves doesn’t settle for one style fits all.” “Her three-plus octaves, diva-like delivery and intimate sense of a song have long made her one of the most compelling vocalists in jazz.” ― Seattle Times “She roams and explores, growls and catches at notes and phrasings. It is this audacity that makes Reeves’ voice an awesome instrument.” ― People Magazine Tickets for Dianne Reeves are on sale now at the Lobero Box Office and at Lobero.com. Jazz at the Lobero’s season still has two incredible performances in store with Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour’s star-studded 55th anniversary show on January 15 featuring Dee Dee Bridgewater, Christian McBride, Ambrose Akinmusire, Chris Potter, Benny Green and Lewis Nash, and Brad Mehldau Trio and The Bad Plus on May 3. # # # Dianne Reeves Reeves, working with legendary producer Arif Mardin (Norah Jones, Aretha Franklin) won a Grammy for A Little Moonlight, an intimate collection of ten standards featuring her touring trio. Her first solo album in several years, When You Know, was released in 2008.
