2015 Graduation Information for Seniors
SENIOR EXAMS
Seniors have received a schedule of exams and are reminded that the final exam grade will appear as a
separate grade on the report card. Failure to attend class may result in a student losing his/her right to
take subsequent exams. All seniors have a final exam in every class. Students who choose not to take a
final examination after having been given sufficient opportunity to do so will be given an “E” for the
examination, and the final course grade for the year will be reduced by one letter grade.
SENIOR PROM
May 9
MARTIN’S WEST
8:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.
The prom will be held at Martin’s West, 6817 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, MD 21244. The prom is an
elegant and exciting celebration of the completion of high school. Students must remember that the prom
is a school activity; the drug and alcohol policy will be enforced. Students and guests must have tickets
and must arrive by 9:00 p.m. Students who leave the prom site at any time may not return.
PROM PICTURES BY LIFETOUCH
Seniors and their dates will be able to have professionally photographed prom pictures taken by
Lifetouch. Money for photos should be paid directly to the photographer at the prom. Students will be
able to choose photo packages from the posters that will be on display in the school.
POST PROM PARTY
May 10
PARKVILLE YMCA
12:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m.
The Post Prom Party, sponsored by Loch Raven Parents, is a first-class celebration that provides seniors
with a wonderful memory as a farewell to their high school days. The PPP will be held at the Parkville
YMCA in the North Plaza Shopping Center at 8910 Waltham Woods Road from 12:00 until 4:00 a.m.
Drinks and snacks will be provided. Even if you don’t attend the prom, you and a guest are welcome at
the Post Prom Party. Come join your friends and plan on having fun! Arrive by 1:00 a.m., as no one will
be admitted after that time. If you choose to leave before the end of the event, you cannot be readmitted
and are disqualified from all prize drawings.
CAP AND GOWN DISTRIBUTION
May 14
Cap and gowns will be distributed to seniors during period 2 on Thursday, May 14. Seniors who are not
in school during period 2 may pick up their cap and gown in the main office on Thursday, May 14 or
Friday, May 15.
SPORTS AWARDS
May 14
CEREMONY
7:00 p.m.
The Spring Sports Awards ceremony honoring students who have contributed to the spring sports
program of Loch Raven High School will be held in the auditorium on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m.
Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria following the ceremony. All seniors who have participated
in spring sports are encouraged to attend and to bring their parents.
SENIOR AWARDS
May 21
PROGRAM
7:00 p.m.
All seniors, family members, and friends are welcome to attend. Seniors who are to receive awards will
receive a written invitation in the mail. Please remember that award recipients are to wear graduation
gowns and assemble in the cafeteria by 6:30 p.m. Senior award recipients will process to the stage and be
seated. There will be a reception in the cafeteria following the program.
SENIOR OBLIGATIONS
May 22
Seniors are requested to settle all obligations to the school (books, fines, equipment, etc.) by 2:30 p.m. on
Friday, May 22. Any senior who has an outstanding obligation at that time will have his/her diploma
pulled, with an obligation notice put in its place. No fines or returned materials will be accepted the day
of graduation.
COMMENCEMENT TICKETS
Each student will receive six graduation tickets at no charge, which will be distributed during graduation
rehearsal. Additional tickets will be sold Thursday, May 21, Friday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 26 at a
cost of $5.00 each. Please make checks payable to Loch Raven High School. A ticket is required for
everyone including children and infants.
COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL
May 26
(IN THE AUDITORIUM)
8:00 a.m.
All seniors must meet in the auditorium at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26 for graduation rehearsal. In
order to participate in commencement, a graduate must attend the rehearsal. The expected length of this
rehearsal is approximately two hours. Additional practice will be scheduled on Wednesday if necessary.
SLIDE SHOW
May 26
The slide show will be presented in the auditorium immediately following rehearsal. The show will be
for seniors only and will feature a slide/tape presentation that summarizes seniors’ years at Loch Raven.
SENIOR PICNIC
May 26
The senior picnic will be held immediately after the slide show. This is for seniors only. The picnic will
be catered.
COMMENCEMENT
May 27
SECU ARENA, TOWSON UNIVERSITY
2:30 p.m.
Seniors should plan to be at the Towson Center, next to the SECU Arena, at 1:30 p.m. to be lined up by
1:45 p.m. Graduates will line up as directed at the commencement rehearsal. Spectators must be seated
by 2:15 p.m. The doors close for the procession at 2:20 p.m. No one is admitted during the processional;
please be sure to tell your parents and other guests! A shuttle bus will be provided from the parking lots
to the Arena.
Commencement is a formal event, one that requires graduates to dress appropriately. Appropriate dress
will help us to make this a memorable ceremony for you, your classmates, parents, and the community.
Proper dress means: For Girls - White or light colored dresses or skirts, white or light shoes with a low
or medium heel; For Boys - Dark dress slacks, white shirt with a collar and tie, dark dress shoes.
GRADUATION PHOTOGRAPHS
Lifetouch will be at commencement and will take professional photographs of each graduate crossing the
stage. Photos will be available to view and order online at http://events.lifetouch.com.
