Consumer Critique: Ambi™ Cooling Device
Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my
own.
I have migraines. Not often, but often enough to know how debilitating they can be.
Because of the infrequency and a heart condition I have, I don't take medication for my
migraines, but instead suffer along as best I can with dark, quiet rooms and ice.
Ambi™ has come up with an innovative cooling device that helps provide very targeted
relief. For me, they worked well with migraines. It also worked on my husband's back
when he tweaked it the other day. Women in menopause may use it for relief from hot
flashes. I'm also eager to try it out in the summer - we often use ice to help ease the
relief of insect bites, and this is easier to bring around places since we don't have to
worry about things melting.
The device is the perfect temperature - cold enough to provide relief but not so cold
that there's danger of frostbite, like there can be with ice on bare skin. It is cool
practically instantly, using cooling technology found in some portable coolers and
refrigerators. It's battery-operated, and can also be plugged in if you're using it at home.

Our Take:
ambi™ is the first portable device to provide comfort and relief from HEAT TRAUMA
(including HOT FLASHES), MIGRAINES, INJURIES, INSECT BITES, and more, all in the palm
of your hand. Just imagine, a little portable electronic ice cube, that you can travel with
that can cool you off at any time. As soon as my mother found out that this handy
device arrived, she tried to confiscate the ambi. My mom has been having issues with
hot flashes, and knew this would be a big help for her.
She asked to borrow it for a few days to check it out… I allowed mom to borrow it as
long as she promised to give it back, I knew I could use it as well. Well after a week I had
to ask for this back again and again, and begrudgingly she gave it back to me. Needless
to say she loved having a portable ice cube, an easy way to cool down without bothering
her co-workers. Previously when a hot flash hit, she would turn on the fan on her desk…
being in a small office, having a fan turned on when it is freezing outside is not a great
thing for the other co-workers. She loved this and I am sure, I will be buying one for her
upcoming birthday.
I think this would be so handy to bring with on vacation. While traveling, I can get
stressed and this seems to trigger a migraine, I don’t know if it is just the hassle of
travel, or my nerves, I always get terrible headaches. I will surely be bringing this on my
next Disney vacation this May. This ambi will be great for the plane and for toting

Another cool product landed my way this week. It’s called Ambi and it’s made to help
with migraines. Since I suffer from migraines I am pretty excited about trying out this
product. But thankfully I haven’t had a migraine yet so I haven’t had to use it yet. I also
found out it’s good for sports injuries so I’m looking forward to checking this out but

Thank you to SSPR for providing me with an Ambi, free of charge, for review. These are
my own honest opinions.
Unfortunately my parents and I are both migraine sufferers. I had never had a single
migraine in my life until after my second daughter was born. Within days of coming
home from the hospital, BAM. My first migraine ever and they became extremely
frequent. After I had stopped nursing my daughter I was prescribed medication for
them, however it wouldn’t always work. And there were times when it was just coming
on and I so wished I had another alternative to putting medication into my body –
especially when I was still nursing and wasn’t able to take medication while doing
so. My mom would always suggest that I place an ice pack on the back of my neck at
the on-set of a migraine. This was a great suggestion and a lot of times would do the
trick, but unfortunately my migraines came on when I was in the car … or at my desk at
work … places where an ice pack wasn’t accessible.
Recently I was approached about reviewing Ambi to combat migraines and (probably in
the not-so-far-off future) hot flashes. Really? This little gadget that could fit in the palm
of my hand and travel with me in my purse could take away the pain of a
migraine? Basically … a portable ice pack or ice cube that I didn’t need to keep in the
freezer but that could help me in the same way? I was certainly intrigued.
Yup – that is all that the Ambi is. It operates on either batteries (4 AA) or by plugging
the included adaptor into a power outlet. You simply press the start button and a red
light comes on. Within 25 seconds, the light turns blue, indicating that the metal plate
has cooled all the way to 10° celsius (50° farenheit). At this point, Ambi is ready to
use! For migraines you can apply it in one of these three areas for cold therapy to
begin:
What is cold therapy, exactly? It works by applying cold and therefore numbing the
painful tissues, reducing muscle spasms and tension and decreasing
inflammation. There are no side effects, no complications. It can also be used for those
suffering from hot flashes as a result of chemotherapy treatment, menopause, stress,
injuries … even painful bug bites! Cleaning and maintaining your Ambi is simple,
to. Don’t immerse it in water, ever. Simply wipe the metal plate clean with an alcohol
wipe or sanitizer wipe.
I absolutely LOVE the Ambi. It has helped me several times and even provided me with
a portable ice pack when my daughter got a boo-boo and we were away from home. I
lent it to a friend recently, too, to help with her migraine. While both ways gave me
relief, my relief was much faster when I was able to plug it into an outlet versus using it
with batteries. The Ambi goes with me wherever I am now!

Over the past few weeks, I have received some new running/fitness items that I
am going to share with you!



liners, since I have had my share of sports water bottles that get stinky and
smelly over time!
The bottle is super easy to squeeze and comes with
an insulated sleeve.

Dynamic Tape-- Dynamic tape is a highly elastic, breathable, and waterresistant tape (similar to KT tape). What’s very cool is that the tribal design
on the tape was designed by Tahitian tattoo artist Tihoti. So you can tape
up in style!

Hatfield Foot-Calf-Stretch Strap– My calves will get sore occasionally–
especially when running longer distances with minimalist shoe s. This
apparatus is super easy to use and gives your calves a great stretch. It even
has a shoulder strap which allows you to simply lean back to achieve
greater leverage and a good stretch!
AMBI WITH BLUE-TEC™ COOLING DEVICE

Ambi Cooling Device (powered by Blu-TEC™)–This little gadget is AMAZING
(the hubs was super impressed with it too). Instead of using an ice pack
that can defrost and create a wet mess, you just charge up this little device
and place it on the affected area for instant cooling relief. I can’t believe
how fast it reached the cooling temperature. The small size and travel
pouch is nice–making it easy to slip into your gym or travel bag. I think the
possibilities are endless for the Ambi Cooling Device. I will definitely get a
lot of use out of mine!

One of the worst things about intense physical activity for me, especially when it is
warmer out, is the way I get flushed and my face just stays red. Hours after I run my face
can still be much rosier than I’d like. But if I take measures to cool down by putting
something cool on my forehead, the red glow usually calms down much quicker.+
Also, I’m pretty sure that most runners are familiar with the power of icing injuries or
sore spots!
I was sent a device, the AMBI™, which provides instant cooling relief at the flick of a
switch. Basically, it’s an electronic ice-cube! And if you want to sound really cool (or
nerdy) you can say that you’re cooling your injury using the same technology that NASA
used to chill the shell of the space shuttle! There’s no risk of frostbite or melty puddles.
It comes with a plug-in wall adapter but also runs off 4 AA batteries for portability.+
In addition to the muscle strain/sprain relief, you can use the cooling to calm bug bites,
soothe bumps to the head (Hi, I have a toddler!), cool down a hot flash, or help with
migraines. Positioning it on the injury site is one way to use it, but placing it on body
thermoreceptor points (back of neck, forehead, wrist) is another way to bring your body
temperature back in check.
It’s a cool little device, but it’s almost startling how cold it can feel against the forehead.
Honestly, it’s helped bring my temperature back in check after a hard run, but I can only
hold it against me for a minute or so before I start to feel like I have an ice cream
headache or something! Holding it against the wrists is more manageable though. Either
way, it is impressive at how quickly it can bring the body temperature back down.
It comes with a protective sleeve, but the plug/cable don’t fit in that at all… that’s kind
of weird, it seems like you should be able to keep all components together. I think the
vision when it was created was for you to be able to carry it around in your bag with
you, thus it would be running off batteries and you don’t need the cord.

A MOMENT FOR ME + AMBI {REVIEW}
We're in the final week of the Move Nourish Believe Challenge and this week we're
focusing on the Believe portion. I'm loving the week so far - yesterday was spoil
yourself and today I was forced to take 5 mindful minutes. I stopped mid-run to enjoy
the beautiful quiet scenery around one of my favorite lakes in Minneapolis.
Taking time for myself is something I know I need to work on. I'm such a people pleaser
that it's easy to overlook my own needs, so taking a few extra minutes each day hasn't
been a terrible thing.
It finally broke 40 today in Minneapolis, so naturally I scheduled a post-work run
OUTSIDE! It felt so good to run outside again, you don't even know how much I've been
loathing the treadmill lately!
My GPS wasn't working so I couldn't really track distance and time, but I'd guestimate a
3 mile run in just under 30 minutes.
After my run, I had my new obsession for dinner - hard boiled egg with mashed
avocado...
... and then I hit the living room for yoga and stretching.
Mac tried to get in on my yoga action, he gets so jealous when I don't include him. Can
we take a second to recognize how cute he is? He's the best.
SO about that pesty hamstring of mine, I've been doing lots of yoga, foam rolling and
"icing" with my new Ambi electronic ice cube. Ambi is a cooling device that has a
smooth, contoured metal plate that can be applied right to an injury to provide cold
therapy when and where it is needed most.
This sleek, nifty little gadget sure beats ice packs, which I find to be messy and a pain in
the butt! I've been really good about using it on my hamstring and since I can pinpoint

I'm getting to that age where I will periodically get that horrible wave of heat engulfing
my body - then the sweats begin - and I know I'm being hit with that gross misery that is

Now usually when you're in the middle of a 'flash', you run for a cold rag, ice pack or

The Ambi runs on 4 AA batteries (not included - and don't use rechargeable ones) or

seconds, the light will turn blue and the metal plate will cool down to 50' and you're
ready to use.
Apply the chilled unit to the base of your neck (best spot for treatment), lower

Wow! Did I get a timely product to review. You probably do not know this but I have
finished breast cancer treatment not long ago. I will be on maintenance medication for
at least five years, possibly longer. A side effect of that medication for me is hot flashes
at the drop of a hat. It doesn’t have to be a hot temperature where I am just the
simplest exertion of any types and I just pour sweat (or if you prefer I “glisten”
uncontrollably). I had a chance to review the Ambi Cooling Device. What a find!
This product is a handheld cooling device that you place on the back of your neck. Of
course I was skeptical but I tried at the first bloom of moisture. I was so surprised that
within minutes I was cool and dry. In the material I was sent the company stated it was
also good to relieve migraine headaches. I haven’t had a migraine in many years but I
can imagine relief would come with the cold. I remember putting cold cloths on my
forehead to help with the pain. I would be able to sort of massage with the cold with the
Ambi unit. I bruised my leg the other day and it was really stinging, I got out my
“electronic ice cube” and the stinging was soothed very soon. If you needed to cool an
insect bite it would work wonderfully. Anything you would need an ice bag for you could
use this great product.
The Ambi Cooling Device is just a little larger than my cell phone and very comfortable in
the hand. It uses batteries or can be used with the charger than comes with the unit.
The cooling part of the unit is made with the same material used to keep the space
shuttle from burning up in space. It does not get so cold that it would injure your skin. I
have shown this product to my doctors and my friends and they all think it is a great
invention. Several have expressed interest in getting one and have suggested uses for it.

As a parent I am always looking for products that can help make a difference one way or
another for my kids and I! So when I was contacted by a company to share a product
called AMBI by Blue-Tec, which is a electronic ice-cube device I will have to admit I was
a little skeptical at first.
So many brands claiming to do this and that and some do neither. Well this device
peeked my interest the moment I received it. I charged it up just to see how it works
and if the claims of cold therapy would produce a smooth sensation of cold therapy to
me aching back. Before I tell you my opinion let me tell you about the device.
First let me share the device and its purpose:

Ambi Portable Electronic Cooling Device is simply an electronic ice-cube… without the
mess! The ambi cooling device has a smooth, contoured metal plate designed to be
applied to the back of the neck, forehead, and or other locations on the body to provide
cold therapy when and where you most need it.
The device is about the size of a smartphone and provides safe non invasive relief
anywhere, anytime no matter where you are. I like that its my own personal cooling
device that instantly delivers cold therapy without any gel or messy creams. Very easy to
operate, uses 4 AA batteries or the plugin adapter cord, within 25 seconds of pressing
the start button the Ambi plate will cool to 10 Celsius (50 Fahrenheit).
This device has a light indicator which lets you know when it is ready for use. Red
means cooling period and solid blue ambi is ready for use!
It is said that it works well with providing relief for women like me with hot
flashes andmigraine symptoms, as well as bumps and bruises and those nasty
itchy insect bites we all deal with in the summer, all at the touch of a button.
I can’t wait to use it on the kids, for I know this summer will bring lots of bruises and
insect bites. Once the kids see the device I think they would be quit comfortable with
mom using it on their bumps and bruises unlike some methods I have used where they
look and reacted with fear.
The Ambi is a one (turn it on), two (apply it to area), three(get relief) process!! Its a
must not leave home without it device for sure!!!!!! I gave it a shot today, I was
experiencing bad hot flashes this morning and I placed the device on the back of my
neck and within a few seconds I felt the cool therapy assisting to help reduce my hot
flashes, actually it felt pretty good.
I can truly say, this product stands up to its claims of offering cool therapeutics relief for
those discomfort areas and I think it would be good to have this device on hand. It is
safe, functions well, reliable, serves many benefits, can be applied to any area and its
small enough to travel with you anywhere.
So don’t get caught this summer without the Ambi cool electronic ice-cube device, let
the cool, smooth, relief of Ambi, take that discomfort away! Please remember this
device is good to have on hand but if your child experience severe reaction to insect
stings, or have a sever injury Pleaseseek medical attention ASAP!! Even though there is
a fan inside the device beware that the device heats up upon long use!

impressed with the Ambi I was given to review and would recommend it anyone seeking
relief for headaches, hot flashes, muscle strains or overheating. The relief is
instant! Ambi fits right in the palm of your hand and comes in a cute neoprene carrying
case. Say goodbye to messy cooling gels and creams...Ambi is mess-free! This "cool"
