Subject: Call for Associate Editors, Environmental Humanities Reply-To: Discussion list for Feminism in Geography <GEOGFEM@LSV.UKY.EDU> This may be of interest. Apologies for cross-posting. Environmental Humanities is an international, open-access, journal that aims to invigorate current interdisciplinary research on the environment. In response to a growing interest around the world in the many questions that arise in this era of rapid environmental and social change, the journal publishes outstanding scholarship that draws humanities disciplines into conversation with each other, and with the natural and social sciences. At present the journal is in an exciting period of growth and transition. After three highly successful years and six issues, the management of the journal will shift to an international partnership of leading research centres while publication will move to Duke University Press. The journal will remain open access. More information here. The new university partners are: Concordia University, Canada Sydney Environment Institute, University of Sydney, Australia University of California, Los Angeles, USA Environmental Humanities Laboratory, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden Environmental Humanities Program, University of New South Wales, Australia As part of this transition the journal is looking to take on four new Associate Editors to join the existing Editorial Team. Position description Applicants for these positions should have a strong interest in the interdisciplinary environmental humanities (in line with the journal’s mandate), but we have a particular interest in hiring editors with a grounding in the following fields: literature and eco-criticism science and technology studies feminist and queer ecologies political ecology/environmental justice environmental cultural studies environmental anthropology environmental history and history of science multispecies/animal/critical plant studies The position of Associate Editor requires roughly 2-3 hours of work a week on average. Each Associate Editor will be allocated roughly 6-8 article submissions per year to oversee. This process involves reading papers to ensure their suitability, identifying appropriate referees, coordinating the review process, working with authors on revisions, and – in consultation with the rest of the Editorial Team – making a final decision about the publication of the piece. In addition, our Associate Editors are involved in more informal ways in reading, discussing and evaluating articles overseen by other members of the journal’s Editorial Team. Associate Editors should have an established background of academic publication, be strong writers, good managers and ideally have some editorial experience. They must be well organised, able to keep good records and to use an online submission management system. Editors should be able to dedicate some time to the journal every few days, rather than allowing tasks to build up. Application process Those interested in an Associate Editor position with Environmental Humanities should submit a CV with a short (1-2 page) cover letter outlining their relevant experience and interest in the position and the journal. Applications should be submitted to editors@environmentalhumanities.org by 14 September 2015. The Management Committee of the journal will consider all applications and make decisions by the end of October. Decisions will be based in large part on the skills and experience of the applicants, but will also need to take into account the balance of disciplinary expertise and other relevant factors. http://environmentalhumanities.org/call-for-associate-editors/
