Welcome to our first parent newsletter of 2015! I hope you all had a lovely break over Christmas and that the new term is well under way. We're pleased to welcome several new children and their families to our nurseries and crèche. This can seem like a long, dark couple of months to us as adults, but so far the children have already been enjoying the snow and ice and inside the nurseries is a hive of activity. We continue to try and include some extra curricular activities for as many of the children as possible and at the moment these include yoga, music, French and Forest School. If you come across any other great ideas, do share them with your nursery manager, we're always open to new ideas. Last week I was at the Houses of Parliament for the launch of the National Day Nurseries' Association 'Childcare Challenge', as they are lobbying all MPs to consider their policies on childcare as we approach the next election. This time round, childcare does seem to be a big focus and some politicians seem aware of the challenges for parents and providers. However, a shocking number of them have no awareness of how the funding for nursery children works and when I spoke to 3 of the MPs who represent our constituencies, they had no idea that the 'free' places for 2, 3 and 4 year olds were so badly underfunded. If you'd like to find out more about the 'Childcare Challenge', do visit http://www.ndna.org.uk and add your voice to the campaign. Hello and welcome to Stoke Park Crèche! We have been so busy making the crèche look festive and our newest member of the team Sithy has proven herself as a fantastic addition, by not only settling in very well, but by being a keen arts and craft enthusiast! She really inspired the older children by making fabulous intricate star decorations with them. We really enjoyed the Christmas season here at the crèche and all enjoyed playing Christmas music every day and using our jingle bells and instruments to play and sing along. Vivienne was very busy baking (as the best baker on our team) we are enjoyed sampling some of her creations. The children iced biscuits and made mug cakes, which are a quick and easy way activity for even the youngest children to join in. We are now booking for February half term and it is likely to be busy, so please speak to one of the team if you would like to book a session. We will be running lots of activities during the week, for older siblings too, so don't miss out on the fun. I would like to add that Stoke Park has had an amazing refurbishment of their gym facility, with all new equipment and layout, so if you haven’t already visited, do go and check it out!
