ONSERVATION OF A HISTORIC PROPERTY
This award recognizes a property owner who has adopted a long-term maintenance ethic for an property that is
40 years old or older (not necessarily with a historic designation) that takes into account the property’s original design and materials. Properties that contribute to the character of local or national Historic Districts are eligible, as are other properties of distinctive architectural or landscape design. Nominations may include individual properties or groups of properties, including whole neighborhoods. For the purposes of this award conservation means applying measures necessary to maintain, stabilize, and protect the property while minimizing loss of original design, materials, and craftsmanship. Measures will generally apply to maintenance, repair, or in-kind replacement of historic materials and features rather than extensive replacement and new construction.

Projects eligible in this category will reflect innovative ideas of aesthetics, material composition, engineering, spatial planning, and other design considerations, including contemporary treatment of landscape components (if applicable).
