1. Introduction
IOP Publishing Ltd. publishes more than 60 of the world's leading research journals in physics
and related science, and is pleased to submit the details of the enclosed offer aimed at providing
CAUL members with access to its electronic journal service IOPscience extra.
2. New Journal Content 2014
I’m pleased to advise that 2014 will see the publication of 4 additional journal titles by IOP
Publishing, which will be included in IOPscience extra and available to E/J’s collection
subscribers as part of the IOPscience extra upgrade offer:
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics [JJAP]
Applied Physics Express [APEX]
Methods and Applications in Fluorescence
Surface Topography: Metrology and Properties
Both JJAP and APEX journals are established publications and are currently published by the
Japanese Society of Applied Physics, with significant impact factors of 1.058 for JJAP and 3.013
for APEX.
Methods and Applications in Fluorescence and Surface Topography: Metrology and Properties
are both cutting edge new IOP Publishing titles, launched in 2013.

3. IOPscience extra
IOPscience extra contains a total of 66* journal publications and a complete list of the titles
included in the service can be found in Appendix I. IOPscience extra contains access to all
published content 1874 – 2014 inclusive.

American Astronomical Society)

A collection of 48 journal publications* that provides access to the most recent content published
by IOP Publishing (2004 – 2014), including a ten-year, full-text archive. A complete list of the

5. The Astronomical Journal and The Astrophysical Journal
The costs of both The Astronomical Journal and The Astrophysical Journal will be at the full
institutional annual subscription rates. Renewals and new subscription orders to be placed directly
with IOP Publishing for 2014.
6. New Members 2014
New members have the opportunity to subscribe to IOPscience extra. Please contact the publisher
for further information and pricing.
7. IOP Journal Archive 1874 – 2003
Members can also choose to purchase the continual access rights to the IOP Journal Archive
(1874 – 2003) on payment of a one-time fee of £25,534.00.
8. Term of Agreement
The proposed term of the agreement is 1st January 2014 – 31st December 2014.
9. Annual Licence Fee
The Annual Licence Fees for IOPscience extra and the Electronic Journal Collection are subject
to a maximum annual price increase of 5%, depending on new content included. IOPscience extra
members in 2014 will be subject to higher % increases due to the inclusion of four new journals
listed in Section 2 of this offer. The same will apply to those EJ’s subscribers who also currently
subscribe to the transfer journals JJAP and APEX.
10. Access Rights
Subscribers to IOPscience extra will be provided with access to the current content (2014), as
well as the full-text archive of all titles published 1874 – 2013 detailed in and Appendix I.
Subscribers to the Electronic Journals Collection will be provided with access to the current
content (2014), as well as the full-text archive of all titles published 2004 – 2013 and detailed in

Appendix I.
In the event that an institution terminates its membership of the Licence Agreement IOP
Publishing commits to provide the institution(s) with continual access rights to the full-text of all
licensed material commencing 1st January 2005, and extending until 31st December 2014.
11. Deep Discount Print
Members wishing to receive the print volumes of the publications included in IOPscience extra
can purchase the titles concerned at discounted rate of 10% of the full institutional annual
subscription price, excluding The Astronomical Journal and The Astrophysical Journal.
12. Authentication & Access
Authentication is provided by means of IP address registration and online access is provided via
the IOP website. Athens and Shibboleth authentication supported.
13. Usage Statistics
IOP Publishing is COUNTER 3 compliant and all CAUL members’ institutions have been
provided with username and password access in order to be able to retrieve their institutional
usage statistics.
14. Ordering and Invoicing
All orders for membership of the IOPscience extra Licence Agreement in 2014 will be submitted
to IOP Publishing via CAUL, on receipt of which IOP Publishing will submit a single invoice to
CAUL for payment of the appropriate licence fees.
