About Tim Collins
Tim Collins is the President of EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). In 1983, he co-founded a company
specializing in indexing and abstracting periodical information, which was subsequently purchased by
EBSCO Industries, Inc. and became EBSCO Publishing. EBSCO Publishing merged with EBSCO Information
Services in 2013.
Tim has overseen the explosive growth that has taken EBSCO from a niche provider of print indexes in
the 1980s to what is today one of the world’s most important for-fee internet research services. Tim
Collins has guided the company to very strong organic growth, combined with a steady stream of highly
strategic acquisitions. He has succeeded in his goal to make EBSCO the licensor of the world’s highest
quality journals & magazines, which is unique in the industry and has caused EBSCO to become the
foremost provider of full-text journal & magazine databases to libraries.
With an emphasis on creating, licensing, and acquiring the world’s best subject indexes, Tim has allowed
the company to also become the definitive platform for subject indexes in most subject areas. Tim
Collins has dedicated unprecedented resources to allow EBSCO to offer the only discovery service with
comprehensive metadata, a truly integrated e-book platform, the most up-to-date evidence-based
point-of-care medical reference tools, and powerful corporate learning resources.
In addition, Mr. Collins has been the driving force behind the reduction of EBSCO’s environmental
footprint, instating many new cutting edge policies, such as the conversion of EBSCO’s entire fleet of
company cars over to hybrid vehicles, the installation of over 400 solar panels and electric car charging
stations at the company’s Ipswich, Massachusetts headquarters, the distribution of over 150,000 green
bags to librarians and local residents, etc. Tim has been interviewed in many industry publications,
including Library Journal, Information Today, Research Information, Business & the Environment, etc.
