About us
Active Cheshire is the lead body for Sport and Physical Activity across Cheshire and
Warrington. Mandated by Sport England, our aim is to get 50,000 more people, more active,
more often, by 2017; for the health and wellbeing of local residents.
As an established charity, we invest more than £500k each year on behalf of Sport England,
Cheshire West and Chester and other partners. We use local insight to commission
programmes of activity that will enable schools, clubs, leisure operators, businesses,
community groups, colleges and universities to sustain and grow participation themselves.
We are affiliated to 46 National Governing Bodies of Sport, including British Cycling, The FA,
The RFU, British Rowing and England Athletics. We also boast strong relationships with
local decision-makers including Cheshire East Council, Warrington Borough Council and
Cheshire West and Chester Council, the latter for whom we deliver a sports development
service.
We adopt a ‘whole of market’ approach, ensuring that all existing provision and infrastructure
is fully optimised and responsive to consumer needs and demand. The next phase in our
exciting journey is to connect sport-and-physical-activity-related insight, strategy, investment
and commissioning to achieve a net gain in participation locally.
About you
We seek a high-calibre, experienced professional with a strong Health background, capable
of driving our ambitious charity through the next phase of its evolution.
