OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
FROM INDIAN CURATORS
Delfina Foundation (DF) is an independent, non-profit organisation
dedicated to fostering artistic talent and facilitating exchange through
residencies and public programmes ranging from workshops to exhibitions,
both in the UK and with international partners.
With support from the Charles Wallace India Trust and Inlaks Shivdasani
Foundation, DF is offering a three-month residency to a curator with
Indian citizenship, living and working in India, and under the age of
35. The residency period is 27 July to 18 October 2015 and will begin
during DF’s summer period of open research and overlap with our autumn
thematic programme on The Public Domain. As a result,the residency will
particularly benefit those with an
interest in cities, social
engagement, public art and/or the public domain, both in the physical
and virtual sense.
During the residency, DF will develop a loosely structured series of
events and activities enabling residents to:




Research and develop areas of interest
Develop skills via training and mentoring
Access information and resources through independent study, field
trips and workshops
Participate in both internal and external/public events
Typical participants will include young graduates or emerging curators
with limited international experience.
THE SELECTED CURATOR WILL RECEIVE:
 A twelve-week residency in London, including one return, economyclass flight, and a living allowance for food/per diems and
materials;
 A single bedroom at DF with shared facilities, such as the laundry
room, kitchen, and dining room;
 Opportunities to engage in the art scene in UK through structured
and independent time and activities; and
 Access to a programme of planned group activities and visits to
cultural organisations in the UK.
REQUIREMENTS:
 An Indian citizen, currently living and working in India;
 Under the age of 35;
 Seeking an opportunity to develop your practice and the concepts of
your curatorial work;
 Able to explain how the experience of an international residency
may benefit your career development; and
 Proficient in English.
It is desirable that the applicant has an undergraduate qualification in
a relevant discipline.

ABOUT DELFINA FOUNDATION
Delfina Foundation (DF) is more than London’s largest international
residency programme – it is a home where the next generation of
contemporary artists, curators and thinkers are supported and nurtured.
Based in two newly renovated Edwardian houses near Buckingham Palace, DF

Established by arts philanthropist Delfina Entrecanales CBE, DF is the
successor to Delfina Studio Trust. From 1988 to 2006, Delfina Studio
held an unprecedented record for supporting artists through residencies
and exhibitions, including more than a dozen Turner Prize nominees such
as Mark Wallinger, Jane & Louise Wilson, Tacita Dean, Martin Creed and
Glenn Brown as well as renowned artists such as Chantal Joffe, Michael
Raedecker, Hangue Yang, EsraErsen,WimDelvoye and Khalil Rabah.
DF is proud to build on this history. Working internationallyDF has
hosted artists from 18 different countries over the last six years with
a soft focus on practitioners from the greater Middle East and
increasingly South Asia. We have commissioned new artworks and
programmes, often in partnership with leading institutions including
Tate, Victoria & Albert Museum, Serpentine Gallery and Frieze Art Fair
in the UK, as well international organisations such as MACBA in
Barcelona, Videobrasil in São Paulo, Art School Palestine in Ramallah
and Art Dubai - to name a few.
Our work is followed by key arts professionals and our audiences include
arts patrons, curators, major art collectors and the general public.

ABOUT INLAKS SHIVDASANI FOUNDATION
The Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation was established by Indoo Shivdasani in
1976 as a permanent platform for his philanthropic activities. The
Foundation focuses on providing scholarships, grants and awards in any
field to outstanding young Indians to develop their professional,
scientific, artistic and cultural abilities.
ABOUT CHARLES WALLACE INDIA TRUST
Charles Wallace India Trust enables Indians in the early to mid stages
of their careers to spend time in the UK, helping them to achieve
artistic, academic and professional ambitions and to broaden their
international contacts.
