POSITION DESCRIPTION
A. Director:
As a Director in a team, you will report directly to your Executive Director. In addition to projects
delegated to you by your Executive Director, you are highly encouraged /expected to create projects of
your own relating to your area of expertise within PSG.
Expectations/Duties:
o Required to Attend Monthly Board of Directors Meetings Wednesdays at 7PM
o Serve a minimum of 3 office hours per week
o Participate in at least 4 PSG activities/functions per semester
o Attend Weekly committee meetings
B. Associate Director:
AD’s are generally freshman or sophomores who are looking to make an impact on campus, but aren’t
quite sure where their niche is. During their first semester, Associate Directors are given the opportunity
to work on projects for each team. Following their first semester, they may have an opportunity to be
promoted to a Director position within a team that fits their interests and personality the best, in
accordance with the organization’s needs.
Expectations/Duties:
o Required to Attend Monthly Board of Directors Meetings and 1 Senate Meeting
o Serve a minimum of 3 office hours per week
o Participate in at least 4 PSG activity/function per semester
o Attend Weekly AD meetings with Secretary
COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS:
Programming
The Programming team is responsible for planning and executing internal and external events for
Purdue Student Government. This includes but is not limited to monthly birthday parties, PSG
retreats, holiday parties, campus-wide events, and more.
Governmental Relations
The Governmental Relations team facilitates and supervises all communication between federal, state,
and local governments and officials, including lobbying for student interests and causes. They act as
the liaison between the student body population and political figures. They are responsible for planning
PSG’s Day at the Statehouse, and correspondence with other Student Governments will often go
through GR as well. Some Director positions include but are limited to: Local Government, State
Government, and University Relations.
Student Engagement
Student engagement is in charge of planning and facilitating initiatives and events that increase the
connection between Purdue Student Government and the student body. They have been in charge
of such activities including: table talks, outreaches with Greeks, residence halls, athletics, student
organizations, and other student demographics. Some Director positions include but are not
limited to: Residence hall outreach, Athletic outreach, Greek outreach, Student organization
outreach, and Outreach events.
Communications and Marketing
The Communications and Marketing team serves as the chief media and public relations consultant.
They must have the ability to understand projects taking place in PSG and be able to craft a message for
PSG. Marketing will also serve to inform and promote clear communication of the progress PSG is
making. Communication within PSG will also be a focus for the Communication team to ensure that it
is consistent and effective. Some Director positions include but are not limited to: Webmaster, Social
Media, Visual Communications, Boiler Bulletin, and Press Secretary.
Strategic Planning and Assessment
The SPA team must develop and implement long term growth strategies and internal assessment of
Purdue Student Government. This group typically works on surveying, collecting data from the student
body, and developing a strategy to address key issues. Some Director positions include but are not
limited: Director of Sustainability, and PSG PRIME.
Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for overseeing programs that direct outreach to diverse student
populations on behalf of the Purdue Student Government and maintaining a platform of diversity and
inclusion within PSG by collaborating with diverse student populations and organizations. They will
work closely with Programming, Outreach, and Communications to effectively carry out their roles.
Some Director positions include but aren’t limited to: Cultural center outreach, Purdue 360, and
International Student.
