Application requirement of minor programs: The application requirements
and the course and credit table of the minor, double-major, interdisciplinary programs
in academic year 2015 should be put into effect after approval by the Council on
Academic Affairs. (All required courses can be inquired to each department).

Political Science
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take 70 or more
average scores in the previous years.
2. Besides 6 credits of the required course,
Introduction to Political Science, the 18 credits of
the 3 of the 1 to 4 items should be completed. In
the 4th item, 6 credits should be completed,
including one of the courses, 3a Classics of
Political Thought and 3b Political Thought and
Contemporary Issues. There are 24 credits in
total.
Department of
Sociology
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take 70 or more
average scores in previous 2 semesters (The firstyear applicants should take 70 or more average
scores in the previous 1 semester). Students who
have completed the course, Sociology, can study
other related courses offered by Department of
Sociology to fulfill the credit requirements.
2. Minor program students are not limited to the
prerequisite requirements.
3. Please approved minor program students visit
the Office to take related documents.
Department of Social
Work
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take 70 or more
average scores in all previous semesters. Students

2. Minor program students who want to
participate in the Senior Social Worker Exam

Department of Music
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take 70 or more
average scores in all previous semesters, and pass
the examination of major instrument.
2. Students of Department of Music who apply
for the minor programs of other departments
should accept guided course selection.
3. The minor program students can study all
courses of the bachelor’s degree program of
Department of Music. However, the elective
course, Music Appreciation, is not allowed to
include in the 6 elective credits of the minor
program requirements.
4. Instruments are divided to 6 groups: Piano,
Voice, Percussion, String, Wind, and
Composition. The courses, Instrument (I-IV),
should be the same group. The instrument credits
should be counted as elective instrument credits,
and students should participate in the semester
examination of instrument.
5. The course, Music Analysis (I), is a 3rd-year
course. The minor program students should study
the course in the 2nd academic year.
Department of English 1. The requirement for students from other

departments who apply for the minor program
Literature
should pursue the requirements for each year are
as follows:
(1) First-year applicants: Students should take 80
or more average scores in reading and specking
of Foreign Language I (English) in the previous
semester, and 75 or more average scores in the
previous semester.
(2) Applicants who are 2nd-year and above:
Students should take 80 or more average scores
of Foreign Language II (English) and 75 or more
average scores in the previous semester.
(3) Applicants who have not completed Foreign
Language I (English) and taken 75 or more
average scores in the previous semester should
pass the additional English exam.
2. * Students should complete 4 credits for one of
the two 4-credit courses: the English
Conversation (4 credits), and the English
Conversation – Business English and English
Conversation – Discourse on Current Issues (4
credits in total).
3. The above course and credit table is provided
for reference. Students can select courses based
on requirements. However, the course, English
Writing I, is the prerequisite course of the course,
English Writing II. Students should complete and
pass the English Writing I first and then are
allowed to study English Writing II. The two
courses are not allowed to study in the same
semester.
Department of
Japanese Language
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take 75 or more
and Culture
average scores in the previous semester. Students
who have no score caused by participating in
exchange students in the previous semester
should submit the scores in the previous semester
before visiting foreign countries. Students should
submit the transcripts and ranking in class.
2. All required courses listed in the table (30
credits) should be completed.
3. Qualified applicants should be ordered based
on scores and enrolled on the basis of competitive
selection
4. Students who have complete the common
courses, Japanese I and II, should study the
courses, Japanese Grammar I, and II instead of
the course, Basic Japanese.
Department of
1. Students who have passed the GoetheGerman Language and Zertifikat A2 can submit the certificates to apply
Culture
for the exemptions of the courses, German
Grammar I, II, and German Reading I, II (16
credits).
2. Students who have passed the GoetheZertifikat B1 or above can submit the certificates
to apply for the exemptions of the courses,
German Grammar I, II, and German Reading I,
II, III, IV (24 credits).
3. The courses, German Grammar and German
Reading, are integrated courses. They should be
studied at the same time. Students can inquire the
Office for the regulations of other courses before
course selection.
Department of
Mathematics
Minor program students are not limited to the
prerequisite requirements.

1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should have completed the
courses, General Chemistry I, II, and Laboratory,
first.
2. Totally 26 credits of the courses in the above
table are required.

Psychology
1. Application Requirements:
A. Applicants should take 75 or more
average score in all previous semesters.
B. Applicants should have completed the
General Psychology offered by
Department of Psychology, the
Psychology offered by other
departments, or the Psychology in the
General Education.
2. Requirements:
A. Students who study the minor programs
should complete the required courses,
General Psychology (6 credits) and
Psychological and Educational
Statistics (6 credits). The other credits
can be obtained by studying other
professional required courses, except
the Physiology, General Mathematics,
and Calculus.
B.
After the approvals of the instructors,
student who have completed the related
courses of Statistics (6 credits) can
study other professional required
courses, except the Physiology, General
Mathematics, and Calculus.
C.
The criteria of each course should be
based on the requirements announced
by Department of Psychology in each
academic year.
D. At least 25 credits should be completed
since the approval of application for
minor program.
Note: The regulations are put into effect after
approval of the Council of Department on March
1, 2015.
Department of Law
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take the first 25%
ranking of the class (counting to the first semester
of academic year 2014).
2. All required courses listed in the table (30
credits) should be completed.
3. Qualified applicants should be ordered based
on scores and enrolled on the basis of competitive
selection.
4. Students who have complete the common
courses, Japanese I and II, should study the
courses, Japanese Grammar I, and II instead of
the course, Basic Japanese.
2. Students who have completed the course,
Republic of China Constitution and Government,
offered by Department of Laws should study the
Civil Code-Property instead of Republic of China
Constitution.
3. The course, Administrative Law, which has
been completed by students in other departments
should be instead by Civil Code - Obligation.
4. The prerequisite course of Civil Law Obligation is General Principles of Civil Law.
The prerequisite course of Civil Code-Obligation
is Civil Law - Obligation. Students should
completed Republic of China Constitution before
studying Administrative Law and Legal Ethics,
and they should completed Civil Law Obligation before studying General Principles on
Commercial Law and Company Act.
5. Applicants should carry the original copy of
student ID card and attend the course selection
description of Department of Law at the 5117
meeting room in Downtown Campus at 6:30 P.M.
(Wed.) on May 13, 2015. Absentees are not
allowed to apply for the minor program. Any
leave for personal leave is not accepted. Students
who take sick leave should provide the original
copy of diagnosis statement on May 13, 2015 to
the Office for approval before 5:00 P.M. on May
14, 2015. Approved applicants are allowed to
apply for the minor program.
Department of
Economics
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take 75 or more
average scores in the previous semester.
2. Students from other departments who have
completed the courses, Calculus and Principles of
Economics, can study other courses after
approval of the Office.
3. One of the four courses with the mark ※
must be selected.
Department of
Accounting
1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take the first 30%
ranking of the class, and take 70 or more average
scores of the Foreign Language.
2. Applicants who fulfill the Regulation 1 will be
enrolled on the basis of competitive selection.
3. Above courses should be based on the
prerequisite requirements of Department of
Accounting. For example, students who are not in
School of Business should study the 8-credit
course, Accounting I (First and Second Terms),
and their required credits should be 37. Students
of School of Business and have completed the
course, Accounting (First and Second Terms)
should study the Accounting I Second Term (4
credits), and their required credits should be 33.
4. Students of Department of Business
Administration who apply for the minor program
should study the course, Tax Laws, instead of the
course, Management Accounting.

1. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should take 75 or more
average scores in all previous semesters, and take
75 or more average scores of the Foreign
Language. Applicants who fulfill the Regulation
1 will be enrolled on the basis of competitive
selection.
2. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program should study the 3 courses,
Economics, Accounting I, and Statistics
additionally if they have not complete the 3
courses.
3. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program and have complete some
courses in the table can study other related
courses appointed by Department of Business
Administration.
4. Above courses should be based on the
prerequisite requirements of Department of
Business Administration.

International Business
1. The first and second year students of Soochow
University who take 70 or more average scores in
previous semester can apply for the minor
program by submitting the copies of transcripts
and the ranking of class.
2. Applicants who fulfill the Regulation 1 will be
enrolled on the basis of competitive selection.
3. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program and have complete some
courses in the table can study other related
courses appointed by Department of International
Business after approval.
Department of
1. 70 or more average cumulative score. The
Financial Engineering average cumulative score means the average
and
scores of cumulative average scores in all
Actuarial Mathematics previous semester. For example, students should
take 80 average cumulative score for 70 average
score in the first semester, 80 in second semester,
and 90 in the third semester since the admission.
2. Students from other departments who apply for
the minor program and have complete some
courses in the table can study other related
courses appointed by Department of Financial
Engineering and Actuarial Mathematics after
approval.
