Alpha Zeta Scholarship Program Outline

Chapter Academic Goals: Alpha Zeta would like to provide more academic events for chapter members to help them prepare for graduate school and future jobs. The chapter would also like to get more involved with Cook Campus faculty.

Performance Expectations:

GPA to remain in Good Standing – 2.8

GPA to be accepted for membership – top 40% of SEBS class

GPA to be a big brother – 2.8

GPA to hold elected office – 2.8

5.

Skill Building/Education Programs

Study Hour Program

Study hours take place in the Cook Campus Center throughout the week in 2 hour block periods. Members of the executive board and the scholarship committee monitor brothers that are present at study hours. If the GPA of chapter members falls below 2.8 they must attend at least 4 study hours a week. If chapter members fall below the GPA of 2.0, the chapter president will set up an academic improvement program involving study hours and tutoring.

Academic/Education Programs

-All Members – Each month, the Scholarship Committee with host a lunch or dinner with a faculty member on Cook Campus that is an alumnus.

-Seniors and Juniors – The scholarship chair is working on setting up a program with

Rutgers Career Services that will teach chapter members how to write personal statements.

Note: Freshman are not eligible for membership in Alpha Zeta

Accountability Standards

If the GPA of a chapter member falls below 2.8, they must attend at least 4 study hours per week. If the GPA of a chapter member falls below 2.0, the chapter president will set up an academic improvement program involving tutoring and study hours.

7.

Incentive/Reward Program

Awards for top scholars/improved scholars – Students in high academic standing are eligible for the Alpha Zeta Student of the Year award. At the end of each year, this award is given to a student in each class. Students are invited for interviews based on the GPA and their enrollment in SEBS. Not only Alpha Zeta members are eligible.

Scholarships – Chapter members are encouraged to apply for the National Alpha Zeta

Scholarship, which can award them up to $2,000 for the following academic year.

Assistance for members to join Gamma Sigma Alpha – If financial assistance is needed, the chapter will cover the initiation fee into Gamma Sigma Alpha.
