Christmas Dressage, music, pairs to quadrilles and Prix Caprilli!
December 13th 2015
Fancy Dress prizes!
A fun take on ‘Stressage!’ Including freestyle tests (make your own test up, you can put it to music if
you want, or just dance to our backing music!) Prix caprilli is brilliant fun – 3 levels, intro is walk and
trot with trotting poles, level 2 has canter and small fences (60cms) and this year we’ve got the next
level with some bigger fences! Can you ride an accurate test and pop over a little fence?!?
Christmas prizes, mulled wine (and non-alcoholic punch!) and mince pies!
Fancy dress will be judged at some point during the day – so please check the times for that class
(it’s free!) as I will try and find a time between classes that will suit most people, and we can have a
parade!
Class 1 – Intro B
Class 2 – Prelim 1
Class 3 - Prelim 12
Class 4 – Pick your own freestyle (prelim to elementary) please see below for the required elements
that must be included – if we have enough entries we will split the class into each of the levels. This
is the time to show us your creative side!! - A bit of humour will also be rewarded!!!
Class 5 – Pairs, Trio’s or Quadrilles! Get together with your friends and put a routine together with
2,3 or 4 of you! Max time 5 mins. Prizes to everyone that this part in this new class! Just make it up,

Arena Plan
Fence 1 will be a low cross pole and will be jumped
from a trot across the diagonal FXH
Fence 2 will be a low cross pole and will be jumped
from a trot across the diagonal MXK
Fence 3 will be a small upright not exceeding 2 feet
and will be jumped in both directions out of a canter.
The first refusal at an obstacle will result in 2 marks being deducted
A second refusal will result in a further 2 marks being deducted.
A third refusal will result in 0 marks being given for that entire movement, but
the rider may then miss out the obstacle and continue the test without
elimination.
A fall of horse or rider will result in elimination.
In the event of a knock down, the judge may signal the rider to stop while the
pole is replaced. The rider will then continue the test. There is no penalty for a
knocking an obstacle, except in so far as it indicates that there was a problem
which will be reflected in the marks for the movement as a whole.
The test is designed to show that the horse is able to tackle small obstacles in a
calm and obedient way. The horse should show a good rhythm throughout the
test with a minimum of disturbance before and after each jump. The rider would
be expected to ride with stirrups a little shorter than for conventional dressage
and the trot should be ridden rising. The rider should present the horse straight
at each obstacle and allow with the hands so that the horse is not restricted
during the jump.
The test may be commanded.
The marks out of 10 are based on the dressage scale – viz:

Class 6 – Prix Caprilli Level 3
PRIX CAPRILLI TEST 3 (Arena plan is same as Level 2)
Prix Caprilli Test for Horses with jumping experience competing First Level and above - maximum
height of fences 2'6". It is understood that in the working paces, a jumping horse is not expected to
be as round on the aids as a competing Dressage horse. The horse must softly accept the bit and
may show more "roundness" in the parts of the tests separate from the jumps. Unless otherwise
noted, trot work may be done rising or sitting. When allowed to change leads the horse may do a
flying change or change though the trot. The quality of the change is what matters. Test may be
called.
