WESTBORO TOWN BOARD
The meeting was called to order on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Tim Roiger. Present was
Supervisor Steve Peterson, Clerk Julie Scott, Treasurer Denise Johnson, and Road & Maintenance Director Jeff
Peterson. Also present were Jerry Clark, Rosemary Rindt, Harry Stroik, Violet Thums, Marlene Rymer, Gene
Lucia, Rocky & Carolyn Jones, Jim & Bernice Koch (left at 8:10 p.m.) Mark Hommel, Tony Matyka, Jared &
Roxanne Peterson, and John Pipkorn. Ted Goodrich arrived at 7:25 p.m. and left at 8:10 p.m.
The Clerk read “Letters of Interest” from persons interested in the supervisor vacancy. Letters were submitted
by Tony Matyka, Marlene Rymer, Jared Peterson, and Rocky Jones. S. Peterson/Scott motioned to appoint
Rocky Jones to fill the supervisor vacancy until April 2013. Motion carried. The clerk issued the oath of office
to Mr. Jones.
Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to approve the minutes of the July 13th and July 15th, 2012 meetings as printed.
Motion carried. S. Peterson/Roiger motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report as submitted. Motion
carried. Bills #16902-#16941 in the amount of $37,772.75 were approved by S. Peterson/Jones motions.
Motion carried. Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to donate $200 to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.
Motion carried.
Jeff reported on the chip sealing patch on Hills Lane, Rick Putsy to view Grittner Street right-of-way site the
week of August 13th; issuance of driveway permits; problem with a permit at Greg Lueth property due to
AT&T driveway location; any repairs needed at Community Center-close out remodeling project; monument is
being constructed; bell has been sandblasted/painted; sign roof is finished as is the wall in lobby/town office.
“Curb It” to be placed around monument and sign, donated by Polzin Construction; update on Grover Mining
Committee; Taylor County Highway Department will do the spray patching; load of sand placed under
playground equipment.
Discussion occurred on Fawn Avenue East road complaints. Roiger/Jones motioned to install a culvert on Bus.
Highway 13. Motion carried. Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to ditch roads on Urling Lane, Rindt Road, Fawn
Avenue, and small part of Chelsea Avenue. Motion carried. S. Peterson/Roiger motioned to install culverts
on Heldstab, Staak, Yellow River Road, Mondeaux Avenue, and Hannibal Road. Motion carried. Roiger/S.
Peterson motioned to do work on the dump truck wing. Motion carried. Roiger/Jones motioned to approve
installation of a “School Bus Stop Ahead” sign on Silver Creek Road. Motion carried.
Ted Goodrich updated the board on Westboro Trojan baseball team issues, i.e. lawn mowing, parking,
bleachers, dug out, concession stand, and fundraisers. There are concerns of field damage when the football
team uses the field for practice.
Jeff also reported that he has purchased fluorescent light bulbs for shop and firehall. The community center
back window has been broken. Dogs running-at-large should be reported to Sheriff’s Department. Discussion
was held on the requirement of obtaining a driveway permit when adding gravel to an existing driveway. The
local WTA meeting is 8-16-12 in Town of Cleveland and Westboro Tire Collection is 8-19-12.
The next meeting is set for Friday, September 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to adjourn
the meeting at 8:45 p.m. Motion carried.
