PROFILE:
The purpose of the role is to assume the position of Clinical
Psychologist within the Psychological Therapies team. The post holder will have responsibility for delivering highly specialist psychological assessment, intervention and therapeutic support to the children & young people in Horizon care; providing highly specialist psychological consultation and training to residential and education staff.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering psychological services to homes in a specific geographical area and to be flexible in travelling to other locations where required. They will also contribute to the development of ‘therapeutically lead’ care/services across the organisation. The post holder role will also be responsible for supervising other staff within the Psychological therapies team.

MAIN DUTIES
Core Responsibilities
To undertake comprehensive psychological assessments and write psychological reports for children and young people in the care of Horizon care and education.
To develop, write and regularly review/update therapeutic care plans for children and young people in residential care.
To develop and contribute to the delivery of therapeutic and psychological training to all staff in the organisation.
To deliver psychological/therapeutic interventions to Children and Young people where appropriate.
To use outcome and evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of services and to report this data back to the Lead Clinical Psychologist.
To manage a limited caseload of individual clients, providing specialist psychological input to young people and their carer’s in residential care and educational settings.
To contribute to the development of a ‘therapeutically driven’ service across education and residential teams.
To deliver and manage clinical services to Horizon care homes and schools in an agreed geographical patch.
To offer clinical supervision to other Clinical Psychologists and other Clinical staff members.
To deliver evidence based therapeutic and psychologically lead care which conforms to the standards outlined by the HCPC and BPS.
Clinical Responsibilities
To be responsible for the provision of specialised psychological services at various levels of intervention to clients within Horizon care.
To engage flexibly with children/young people and staff to promote constructive working relationships.
To provide support, guidance and knowledge to staff to develop therapeutically informed relationships with young people and to develop appropriate behaviour management and care plan strategies.
To provide highly specialist psychological consultation to staff teams to enable them to improve their understanding of the psychological and emotional well- being and needs of the children/young people in Horizon care.
To support the work of staff working with children/young people through psychological consultation and supervision.

To liaise with Social Services, CAMHS, Schools, Child Protection, General
Practitioners, other NHS services and other staff where appropriate in the provision of services to children/young people.
To produce comprehensive Psychological assessments and other reports as required (using psychometric tests and neuro-psychological assessment where necessary).
Where appropriate, to undertake assessments using a range of psychological tools and measures and produce reports as required.
Organisational
To organise and attend regular team meetings and CPD days with other colleagues.
To positively engage with both clinical and line management supervision.
To maintain open and straightforward communication with colleagues and provide information within the time and format required.
To provide regular feedback to the Psychological Therapies team regarding
Clinical service delivery.
To provide a psychological/therapeutic perspective in the development of organisational strategies and decisions.
Administration
To maintain proper clinical records and provide statistical returns as required.
To be involved in monitoring and evaluation of the psychology service within the organisation.
To maintain expenses and other organisational records as required.
To maintain confidentiality for and with clients (individual and organisational).
Research
To undertake research in areas relevant to clinical work and organisational development is encouraged and may be undertaken in collaboration with other professionals, where appropriate. To be agreed and authorised by the Executive team.
General

It is a standard condition that all Horizon care staff may be required to serve at any location within the assigned region, as needs of the service demand.
