MINUTES OF JANUARY 14,2014 The regular monthly meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was called to order on January 14, 2014 at 6:30 in the village offices. CALL TO ORDER Members Present: Terry Potter, Mayor Carol Riley, Trustee Michael Conroe, Trustee Amy Hoxie, Trustee Others Present: Joe Miller, Ken Wiggins, Pat Gifford, Bonnie Jean Beaur, Barry Jacobs, Gary Bundy ATTENDANCE PUBLIC CONCERNS Fire Dept report for December was submitted The new truck has arrived four members are taking a health and safety officer class Three new members have joined the Fire Dept. PUBLIC CONCERNS FIRE DEPT. EMS report was submitted EMS MINUTES Minutes of the December meeting were approved on motion by Carol Riley, seconded by Amy Hoxie. VOTE: Riley - yes, Any Hoxie - yes, Conroe - yes. APPROVED MINUTES Mayor Potter appointed Joe Miller to the position of Village Trustee to fill the vacancy of Robert Starr. Carol Riley made the motion to approve this appointment, Amy Hoxie seconded. VOTE: Riley - yes, Hoxie - yes, Conroe - yes. APPROVED APPOINTMENT OLD BUSINESS Mayor Potter informed the board that we have been notified of a grant award in the amount of $20,000 for a Sanitary Sewer System Engineering Study OLD BUSINESS SEWER STUDY GRANT MINUTES 1/14/14 NEW BUSINESS The Village of New Berlin will hold a public hearing on February 11, 2014 at 6:15 PM on Local Law #1 of 2014, authorizing a property tax levy in excess of the limit established in General Municipal Law S3-c LOCAL LAW Mayor Potter appointed John Glover, Tracy Chawgo and David O'Brian as ALS Tech part time. These appointments were approved on motion by Carol Riley, seconded by Michael Conroe. VOTE: Riley - yes, Hoxie - yes, Conroe - yes, Miller - yes. APPROVED EMS APPOINTMENTS The village has received an estimate to replace the radiant heaters in the DPW garage. This estimate is in the amount of $4650.00. This will be considered in the budget for 2014-15. DPW Mayor Potter appointed Joe Miller to the Fire Dept. commission with Mayor Potter and Carol Riley to the DPW and EMS commission. Michael Conroe made the motion to approve these appointments, seconded by Amy Hoxie. Riley - yes, Conroe - yes, Hoxie - yes, Miller - yes. APPROVED COMMISSIONS Mayor Potter appointed Carol Riley to be the Deputy Mayor. DEPUTY MAYOR Carol Riley made the motion to adopt the Chenango County Registration rolls for Village Elections and not have a registration day in the Village. This was seconded by Joe Miller. Vote: Conroe - yes, Riley yes, Hoxie - yes, Miller - yes. APPROVED REGISTRATION DAY The Village has applied for a grant from Stewarts for the youth program. STEWARTS GRANT The Village has applied for a DEC grant for the summer park program in the amount of $3120 DEC GRANT MINUTES 1/14/14 The Father Daughter dance will be held on Feb. 15th at 5-7 PM Easter egg hunt will be April 19th in Hyde Park Young Child Day will be April 12th Arbor Day celebration will be held April 26th. The polling place for the Village of New Berlin elections will be the Village Offices at 13 South Main Street. YOUTH COMMISSION ELECTIONS Mayor Potter appointed Barbara Avery and Marian Wellner to election inspectors. This was approved on motion by Carol Riley, seconded by Joe Miller. VOTE: Riley - yes, Conroe - yes, Hoxie - yes, Miller - yes. APPROVED Abstracts were approved on motion by Amy Hoxie, seconded by Carol Riley. VOTE: Hoxie - yes, Miller yes, Riley - yes, Conroe - yes.
