About Girls Inc. and Frequently Asked Questions

What is Girls Inc.?
Girls Inc. Westchester is the local chapter of Girls Incorporated, a 150-year old
organization whose mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. We
provide girls-only positive youth development programs throughout the county through
various schools and community organizations. Our programs focus on healthy lifestyles,
academic enrichment, and life skills instruction, covering topics such as anti-violence
and bullying, college and career exploration, STEM (science, technology, engineering
and math), leadership and community action, women’s health, and more. All Girls Inc.
programs are led and delivered by trained Girls Inc. professionals, and are offered in
safe and pro-girl environments. For more information about specific programs, please

About Girls Inc. of Westchester
Girls Inc. Westchester has been running successful and popular programs throughout
Westchester County since 2008. There are roughly 66,000 girls between the ages of 9
and 18 living in Westchester County. Girls Inc. is here in Westchester to support and
inspire these girls, to help them reach their potential, and to change the future. In
addition to providing direct programs to girls, we provide resources for parents and
educators; inform policymakers about girls’ issues; educate the media and the public
about critical challenges facing girls; and teach the girls in our programs how to use
their knowledge and strength to promote positive change for themselves and their
communities.
