STC ST11181SC Design 5715-0000-01 Honeywell Advanced Flight Management System In the Following EFIS Aircraft: DC-9-81 (MD-81), DC-9-82 (MD-82), DC-9-83 (MD-83), DC-9-87 (MD-87) and MD-88 Required Navigation Performance (RNP) mandates require a Flight Management System (FMS) using Global Positioning System (GPS) input as part of the navigation package. ASM’s STC integrates a GPS to an existing FMS for RNP operations. The GPS solution can also be used for as the Position Input for ADS-B capable transponders satisfying the upcoming ADS-B mandate. Please note: ASM has an ADS-B STC in process with an expected completion date in the summer of 2015. ASM also offers RNP-capable FMS designs for operators without an existing FMS. ASM’s FAA STC ST11181SC installs a Honeywell Advanced Flight Management System (AFMS) in DC-9-81 (MD-81), DC-9-82 (MD-82), DC-9-83 (MD-83), DC-9-87 (MD-87) and MD-88 Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) equipped aircraft. The main component in the modification is the Honeywell Advanced Flight Management Computer (AFMC). Also installed are the Honeywell Multi-Function Control Display Unit (MCDU), the Honeywell EFIS Mode Select Panel and an upgraded Honeywell Digital Flight Guidance System (DFGS). The AFMC enables the Captain or First Officer to initiate Aircraft Control in Automatic Navigation, Lateral and Vertical Guidance Commands, EFIS MAP or PLAN display information, and the most advantageous Airplane Flight Performance. The integration of the AFMS and DFGS further provides Automatic Pitch, Roll and Thrust during Climb, Cruise and Descent operations. This coordination of Pitch, Roll and Thrust during Lateral and Vertical Navigation facilitates efficient fuel consumption and other cost efficiencies. Additionally, the system allows for RNP operational benefits. RNP supports Green initiatives. ASM’s PMA Installation Kit K5715-0000-00 installs the system. RNP is presently is use in the US and throughout the world.
